From the Author
This was something new for me, a side-step from my usual novel writing, into a world I knew had many more stories to be told than just a handful. There will be three seasons, at least, each delving deeper, every book a stand-alone in itself, but together making a great collection, I hope, and something you'll be able to come back to a second time.
There are clues scattered throughout. I wasn't writing this wondering where it would go, but from an understanding of knowing the rules and where I needed to go from the very beginning.

The Joy of Penny #6 - Well written, interesting, horrifying, more darkness even with a light in her life. You want to take her by the shoulders and shake her until she has a brain that can rattle. Penny appears to be learning to live a better life, taking steps to improve and grow. But, even with Joy's love and advice, Penny goes bad.
The Darkness in Penny #7 - This is a very dark and enlightening story. Penny dips deeper into life she started living in The Joy of Penny, but she does get hope and a big surprise from a forum. Well written and intriguing, but heartbreaking the things she experiences in this story.
The Penny Black #8 - Darkest of the lot. The secrets keep rushing to the light. Well written; intriguing; suspenseful; the last book, maybe not. Overcoming some of her problems, with the unknown help of her father, Penny flip-flops between hope, despair and correcting more of her problems; she grows up and takes responsibility, and does what she can toward her goal. You'll love the ending.
The Powers of Penny #1 - Even though I don't care for school-age children, this story was hard to put down until finished. A well written, interesting story with realistic characters and dialog. Of course, there's a special power that a 14-year-old discovers she possesses, but she's actually mature in the handling of it as she learns her abilities. This is a good story for all ages. It's a cliffhanger.
The Parents of Penny #2 - A well written, interesting story with realistic characters and dialog. The plot is filled with darkness and sadness for the 17-year-old dealing with her special power and the effect on her family. The family secret is revealed and the destruction of all good begins. It's a cliffhanger, even though this segment is complete.
The Heart of Penny #3 - Another well written, interesting story with more darkness concerning a friend who discovers and receives a gift from Penny. She faces her responsibilities and too soon the story is finished, although a cliffhanger. Paul has written a story that's difficult to put down and has the reader coming up with solutions for Penny, which she doesn't need any help, since she has a plan to be completed in the #4 of the series.
The Dark Side of Penny #4 - A well written, interesting story with realistic characters and dialog. This is the darkest Penny has ever had to dwell in and her handling of all her issues is still at a mature level. You feel what she is living and understand her careful planning and executions to correct her wrongs. Intriguing, difficult to put the book down. The author has a note to check the question before chapter one of each book. I always start with the cover and read them anyway.
I contacted the author to review his books and received The Pride, The Poison and the Penny books.
