Amazing! I have a 55 gallon tank with african cichlids. Everyone was getting along wonderful for quiet some time. Then the babies came, and I had a overbearing dad that decided everyone else in the tank needed to die. In two days, we had multiple deaths, and the remaining fish had bedraggled looking fins and were not happy. Drove to petco and hour away from my house! This thing is amazing. Keeps babies and parents on one side, and other fish safe from being bullied. It does away with having to have another tank set up as a nursery tank.

I bought this fully aware what other reviewers had said.
1. Yes the edges are BRIGHT blue! In this day and age you would think clear plastic would be available for this purpose.
2. I bought for the 10 gallon tank but the divider does not reach up to the top of the tank. You have to lower the water level or fish simply swim over the top. (The isolated one got out and two others got in!) Also you have to bury the bottom in the gravel to secure it, thus lowering it even more.
3. The two strips at the top and bottom are quite a bit shorter than in the illustration, making another area where fish can simply swim over the divider.
4. While the divider is wider than my tank it worked by my placing it catty corner, forming a triangular space, enough for a single fish.
5. And while the clips which hold the divider to the sides of the tank are effective, it means the cover of the tank no longer fits neatly into the groove
along the top but perches on top of the clip.
So - although this product works..sort of, it does not enhance the look of your tank.

I needed to separate my cichlids from some new additions. Used in a 55 gallon tank, I had to take out some water to make sure they couldn't swim over the top as the divider didn't quite get to the top. My full grown bumblebee hit the divider many times and it stayed firm, never budged, you do need to mess with the edges to get them the right width.

The only thing I didn't like is how small the holes are on this divider, you have to make sure you have a filter on each side because this divider barely allows water, let alone any extra stuff. I had to put in my backup filter because after 1 week the side with no filter was filthy.

I was pretty disappointed with this product. Probably the lowest quality product I have bought for any of my 7 tanks. Although I did get it to work, kind of.

The clips that hold it in place are metal, and moving them around can scratch the plastic frame of the aquarium. They also interfere with my glass canopy, preventing it from shutting tightly, and leaving a gap that will cause more evaporation of my tank water. Using multiple suction cups on the sides would be a way better design than employing these metal clips.

Also, on the sides, the divider is just supposed to be jammed in with no suction cups or any way of ensuring a tight seal on either side. I secured mine as best I could with a pile of gravel on either side holding it in place, but I expect to lose some of my tiny black convict cichlid fry to big fish on the other side when they inevitably find gaps. I already had one small tiger barb wiggle through from the other side, and he faced an immediate beating from the protective father of the convict fry. Also, my banded leporinus jumped over the top, so you have to make sure divider is positioned high enough that it is above the water, or alternatively, that the canopy touches it when closed. Doable if you have a deep substrate layer in your 55 gallon, as there is just enough divider material to eliminate the risk of fish jumping over or sneaking under.

Anyway, if you want a divider for breeding purposes, this isn't a great one. If you just want to separate one nasty, big fish from the rest of the fish in your tank, it may work ok. Still, I could envision a big fish eventually knocking it loose if they get emboldened to keep ramming into it, as the material is so flimsy.

You get what you pay for. These are cheap, aren't going to fit perfectly, and can be annoying to install, but they may serve your purpose if you want to keep bigger fish separated. I ended up taking mine down, and my fish ended up getting along, so I'm lucky so far (except for wasting the little bit of money on this.)

A couple problems with this divider. The side brackets/supports curve, and do not fit snuggly to the wall of the aquarium. This allows a door way on each side for fry of all ages to slip thru. Every morning I get up to see how many can be caught and moved back over as I'd like to keep them from being eaten. Another issue is overall height. We have a standard 55 gallon. We also fill the tank to its capacity for proper water flow, and to reduce splash noise. This gives 2 more doorways to even large fish to pass over and eat the fry.

Height should be increased, it can always be trimmed.
Side brackets/supports should be made of a medium firmness rubber like material, something that could give a decent squeegee effect and stay against the sidewalls with no gap.

Had the potential to be great, then they decided they'd save a few cents by rolling the transparent divider into a tube and securing it with a zip-tie. The frame for the transparent divider does not extend the full length of the divider, on either the sides or top and bottom, this leaves very thin and sharp plastic edge exposed, If you plan to use this on a 55 Gallon aquarium, you should have at least 3, and probably 4 recommended inches of substrate, this will not extend from the glass bottom to the surface. The tank clips were 100% useless for a 55 Gallon Aquarium (Aqua Culture, Tetra Re-brand if i remember correctly.)

TBH, I'll take the divider, a few pieces of PVC and cut a channel down them the full length of the divider on the sides and top, press it down into the substrate and call it good. Possibly try to use a heat gun on it to see if i can get the divider to relax and not coil up. It may work, but its not a very complete product.
