I bought this perch 2 months ago with no issues. I checked at least two pages of reviews, made sure I checked some bad reviews, and overall this perch seemed good. I'm going to try and be as subjective as possible with this review with the reasonable suspicion I have.
My parrot (GCC) chews on wood, and with this said, I bought this perch knowing she would be chewing on it so I tried to be careful with what I bought. It took her a few weeks to discover she could chew on the wood, and once she did she worked to chew away on some of the base within a 3 day period. During this, she started having weird poops (the urates were brownish-red, normally a sign of internal bleeding) so I immediately rushed her to the vet to be diagnosed. After they took a X-ray they found that her intestines were irritated and enlarged. No danger to her, we were sent home to monitor. The vet couldn't pinpoint why her intestines were irritated and I had mentioned she was chewing on the wood but because I thought I had done my research, we both thought it wasn't that. But that's literally the only thing that changed in her daily routine. Being suspicious, I took the perch away from her and within a day of her not chewing on the wood her poops returned back to normal and she no longer has bowl irritation or swelling. What I'm trying to get across is that I have a reasonable suspicion that this perch may not be all natural wood, on top of that may also have an irritant within the wood or coating on it. I looked at a few of the one star reviews saying others struggled with a residue on the wood and with that said you should just be aware this may not be natural wood and may not be safe for birds that like to lick/chew on wood. Although not proven and this could be a complete fluke, use your own judegment and caution if you own a little beaver as I do.

Well made, Good temporary perch for my Grey Parrot room to room (Sm-Med)

My African Grey is 31, and likes to be in a room with us. I had him perching on a big basket but over the years it fell apart from age. I have a smallish table beside my chair he likes being on so after checking perch diameters and size of the Sm-Med perch I decided it was right for him and glad I did. I supplied two photos. He is not an active Grey parrot, he mostly likes to just hang out. I set the perch up minus the cups and two other steps that screw into the perch, and he is totally okay with it. He weighs 400g, is actually the size of a Timneh Grey. The top perch is wide enough his feet fit comfortably on it and do not go all the way around. It is heavy enough he cannot tip it without great effort, it's very solid and we'll put together. I have paper in the base but will use walnut shell bird bedding once I buy some. I am posting the pics and review for people with parrots like mine larger than a conure to show the difference as most I saw were smaller birds. I hope this helps. If your medium sized parrot just likes to sit and hangout once and awhile and is not long tailed this will work. Use common sense! A bigger long tailed bird is heavy and will be too big. The pieces screw tightly together and do not move so I am not sure why some claim their's fell apart?! There is no way this can do so and I am very careful giving my guy anything.

I received this bird stand from Amazon today. I was excited to see what it looked like. I pulled in the drive way and saw a small box, I was like "oh no! I have to put it together". It's ok it was so easy. It came in 7 pieces counting the two cups. You can you use the pieces that you want. It is small, but that's what I wanted. I have a green cheeked conure and I wanted her to be able to perch in the kitchen while I was cooking or in other rooms we are hanging out. I will be using it with one or no cups, there's not room to perch of you use both. I also like it without the other limbs because really she could jump off if she wanted. Over all this is a good bird stand. I bought one from Pet Smart and had to take it back due to poor quality. I posted pictures with all the pieces and without because previous post said you could not remove both cups. You can and I don't know if this is an improvement the company made.

I bought this as a small potty training stand for a Jenday Conure. He fits pretty snugly on it. It would be better for a smaller bird although the main perch is very thick for a smaller bird to hold onto. It was a cinch to put together. The natural wood looks nice and costs a fraction of those more expensive wooden stands. I sanded off the darker parts of the wood, they appear to have been burnt on! In fact, many parts of this stand looks like they took a wood burning tool to it! The stand is lightweight and easy to move around the house. The stainless steel cups are probably too deep for most birds that would fit comfortably on this, my bird has no issues with them. One of the bowls has a burnt spot on the bottom where the welder heater too long, this doesn't keep the bowl from holding water in. Some sharp staples are present on the bottom catch pan so I make sure I keep a towel over them. My bird is also large enough that at some angles his backside hangs off the perch resulting in poop on the surrounding area of the stand, oh well! My bird also doesn't use any other part of this stand other than the top portion.
