The Penny complete skateboard is a throw back design referencing skate boarding's beginnings in the 1970's. It's classic design and construction is a retro replication of where the skateboard came from. The small design makes this board a perfect cruiser to get you any where you need to go. Whether it is going to check the surf, or kicking to school the Penny complete will get you where you want to go in style. Once at school the small design allows it fit right in your locker. This complete features soft wheels perfect for sucking up all those sidewalk cracks and giving you that smooth ride you want.

I also didn't really have much experience with riding any skateboards before getting this but it didn't take me too long to pick up. For the first few weeks, I faltered or even fell quite often while riding it. The key is to not care about people judging you, but I guess that's more along the lines of life advice.
The "Penny Board" style means a lot of things to a lot of people. For some, it's a throwback to 80s style and skateboarding. To others, it's a friendly, colorful, simple introduction to skateboarding. Many more consider it an art form, which is enforced with Pendleton's graphics getting their own line.
To me, the Penny Board is the perfect transportation tool. I live in Seattle, and transport myself via a combination of public transit and my skateboard. I have rode a traditional skateboard as long as I can remember, but they don't handle cities well. The large wheels allow riding over all bumps and cracks effortlessly. The giant bushings on the trucks allow for soft, yet sharp turns. And the overall small size makes this the perfect board to keep by your side. Only the Penny can offer the cruising experience of a longboard in something so small.
The Penny brand is what brought this style of skateboard back, and it's clear why as soon as you ride one. There is a special attention to detail on these boards that no other brand can compare with. The bearings it comes with leave a bit to be desired, but are leaps and bounds beyond any other "stock" bearing, and the slightly slower bearings almost serve as a safety precaution, as when I replaced mine with Reds my board felt dangerously fast. The vinyl board itself is very strong, and despite some rough landings has shown no ware.
If you're looking for a simple, friendly skateboard to introduce your kid to skating, this is great. If you're looking for a throwback board to cruise around and remember old times, this is great. If you're a college student or commuter that needs a better way to get around, this is great. But most importantly, if you're looking to have a fun time riding around on a skateboard, it's hard to beat a Penny.
Let's start out with what penny boards should NOT be used for:
Penny boards are NOT a good board if you're looking to do tricks (i.e. kick flips, shove its, ollies). Sure, if you're quite skilled you could pull off some tricks, but penny boards aren't going to do you any favors in that sphere. They have no "pop" (which is to say they don't spring easily up into the air).
Onto what penny boards SHOULD be used for:
I'm a college student. I bought this board for easy transportation around campus. The penny board combines the easy, smooth riding of a longboard with the lightweight, easy-to-carry aspect of a skateboard. The smooth wheels mean that the board will carry you further than a classic skateboard, with less pushing required. I used to skate all around campus on my skateboard. It was fun, but normal skateboards are loud and don't go as fast as a longboard. Also, I rarely had a reason to ollie or use my skateboard in another manner that required "pop" as opposed to speed. Also, I have to say that the board is beautiful. It's neon green and appears in real life exactly as it does in the picture posted online. The wheels have an equally vibrant color and I really like it. My friends love it as well and many have asked to give it a try. I have a few big guy friends who weigh well over 200 pounds but the board never broke. 2 of my friends ended up buying penny boards after trying mine.
- very speedy board
- smooth riding
- bad for tricks that require jumping (as are all longboards)
- lightweight and easy to carry
- great color
