About the Author

Né à Paris en 1905, Raymond Aron, agrégé de philosophie, docteur ès lettres, a apporté son concours à différents journaux. Il a contribué au développement de la sociologie et des sciences politiques. Professeur à l'Institut d'études politiques de Paris (1945-1954) et à l'E.N.A. (1945-1947), il devient titulaire de la chaire de sociologie de la Faculté de lettres de Paris (1955-1967), directeur d'études à la VIE section de l'École pratique des hautes études (1960-1978) et professeur au Collège de France (chaire de sociologie de la civilisation moderne) de 1970 à 1978. Raymond Aron est décédé à Paris le 17 octobre 1983.
