One thing that I did notice in the reviews for the Classic is that a number of people have complained about having to replace several parts every year. The good thing about the Kruiser is that there are really only a couple of things that look like they'll need eventual replacement -- two pieces that touch the pool surface (eventually they will wear down and need to be replaced when the 'tread pattern' disappears), and maybe the flapper since it's a moving part, although looking at it I'd be surprised if anything happened to it since it's tucked away and pretty sturdy.
The Kruiser comes with a LOT of stuff. I was surprised at how thorough the company is when including parts. In addition to the cleaner head, the rubber vacuum seal/sweeper disc thingy, and the hoses, you'll also get a couple of hose weights and a bag full of extra goodies.
The cleaner head is already assembled. All you have to do is slip on the big blue rubber disc and attach the hoses. That's it, your pool cleaner has been completed!Read more ›
Shop around: We bought ours for about $250 with free s&h and received a $50 rebate....some places had the same model for as much as $450.

With that said, this is a great cleaner. It is very durable. The only part that I have changed on them is the Fin Disk, the large circle rubber pad (These are in cleaners that are 3 yrs old). The other parts seem to be fine after 3 years. I have three of these on my route.
It works just like the original Kreepy Krauly, but it is completely silent since the flapper is made of rubber. It will move around very well and leave the entire pool spotless. It will also pick up large debris.
The really cool thing is it has a flip out access to clear any debris that gets caught in the cleaner, very convenient.
It gets out of corners and the step area very well. If it does get caught up in any area of your pool there is a great after market product called the TWISTER (Made by Sun solar Rings or by Aqua Quip - original), which turns all the hoses 3 times every hour, effectively moving the cleaner out of the jam.
This is a solid cleaner. It is priced higher than a comparable Barracuda cleaner, but it has proven to be more durable also. It also comes with a Vac Lock for your side port which retails for around $25.00.

I purchased the new kreepy krawly product and thought that it would do the job. Boy was I wrong! The cleaner does not sit on the bottom of the pool correctly and sucks mindlessly. Read morePublished on January 28, 2014 by Gavin Balloch
