Product Description

This Pentek DGD-2501-20 spun polypropylene filter cartridge reduces sand, silt, scale, and rust particles in residential, commercial, and municipal drinking water. It has two separate gradient layers for higher particle reduction efficiency and dirt-loading capacity than standard spun or string-wound cartridges. The nominal filtration rating of the pre-filter layer is 25 microns, and the rating of the post-filter layer is 1 micron. The filter is made of spun polypropylene fibers for resistance to chemicals and bacteria. It has an initial pressure drop of less than 1 pound per square inch (psi) at a flow rate of 20 gallons per minute (gpm), and operates over a temperature range of 40 to 145 degrees F (4.4 to 62.8 degrees C). This spun polypropylene filter cartridge meets National Sanitation Foundation/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) standard 42 for quality assurance, and is used for treatment of residential, commercial, and municipal drinking water.

The nominal filtration rating is for a particle removal efficiency of 85%.

H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.

Water filters remove undesirable particles, chemicals, and microorganisms from water by means of a semipermeable barrier, adsorption, or biological processes. They are made of densely packed synthetic or natural fibers that trap suspended particles, materials that block microbes or adsorb unwanted chemicals, or substances that cause a chemical change, such as acid neutralization. For most residential, commercial, and industrial applications, water filters are manufactured in the form of replaceable cartridges that fit inside permanent housings. Filtration systems typically consist of a series of two or more types of filters, each designed to remove different contaminants. The performance of filters is measured by the minimum particle size that is blocked, the percentage of particles or microorganisms that are removed, the downstream concentration of unwanted chemicals, the maximum flow rate, and the amount of water that can be filtered before the filter must be replaced. Water filters are used in a wide range of applications, including drinking water purification, swimming pools, industrial processes, and irrigation, among others.

Pentair manufactures industrial, commercial, and residential water filtration components and systems. The company, founded in 1966 and headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards 9001 and 14001 for quality assurance.

I just finished installing a complete whole house water filtration system. I used only pentek filters and housings. I'm very happy with the performance of my system and how well it all went together. Here's a breakdown of the all the components I used in my system. I went to great length researching what works and found it wasn't easy going thru each pentek filter and it's function. The goal was to reduce some sediment, iron deposits from old iron pipes and remove any chemical taste. The water tastes great now and is crystal clear.

Components:

-Pentek Big Blue 20" Filter Housings
-Housing Bracket for Big blue 10" and 20" filter

Filters IN ORDER:
1-Pentek DGD-2501-20 Spun Polypropylene Filter 20 micron dual stage to 1 micron.
2-Pentek 155263, RFFE20-BB Radial Flow Iron Removing Filter
3-Pentek RFCC-BB Carbon Filter

you can add another Filter after the Carbon for media if you want. Not necessary but is an option or run 2 sediment filters in beginning of the system.

-Various copper pipes and PVC pipes to build the system. I highly recommend a bypass valve and a way to shut off the water to your filters if you need to change them without losing water pressure to the house.

-I experienced nearly 0 PSI drop thru the 3 filters and no noticeable change in flow rate.

I've been using Pentek filters for years and their quality is outstanding. Pentek is also a brand that hasn't fallen prey to outrageous claims, advertising and price. While this filter is pricier than high micron sediment filters it really captures more and has solved a lot of water quality problems for me.

This 25 micron to one micron filter does a great job holding the iron back from my home water system. It does not screw on but if you put it into the canister and screw the canister closed it adjusts and seats into the outlet.

These dual gradient filters work great at removing fine sediment without sacrificing the water pressure. At first I tried the DGD-7525 (75 micron / 25 micron) filter, but it was letting enough of the fine sediment through. Then trying this one, all of the issues were gone. Also, these filters hold up MUCH better than pleated counterparts.

We live on an Island off the coast of Maine and have a wicked Tannin problem and this filter and the prompt shipment and reasonable price was gratifying I just wish there was a filter that does the job that would last more than a month but you can't have everything

I believe reviews should be about the product, and for this product... it's great.

Struggled with multiple filters, have to change them all the time, more complicated setup. Bought this and a housing, and now I use one filter, change it every 3-4 months, and don't worry otherwise. Great filter, I'm buying more!

I live on a ranch and we filter the water from the well. Pentek 25/1 has proven it's worth in that our water arrives at the tap with little in the way of suspended particles. It seems that the varing grade material of the filter does a good job of removing the particles progressively as the water moves thru the filter. I will buy again so long as Pentek keeps up it's quality.

This did a nice job in getting rid of almost all of the iron in our water.
There is a big difference between this filter and the 50/5 filter and no difference in pressure.
