This has helped remove the iron in the water, which was causing white surfaces to become tinged with red (toilets, showers, sinks, etc.) Not that the items were dirty, just the iron staining things.
Photos of the after affects and the filter set-up. It is 2 BB-20 filter housings with the pleated paper first then a charcoal filter to remove some other 'stuff' from the water.
NOT for use on non-chlorinated water. Its not noted here, but it is on the packaging, that the cellulose doesn't get along well with some bacteria that is present in non-chlorinated water supplies, such as my well. I went ahead and tried it anyways.
It traps the sediment well, however, in my specific case, my water began to stink after a couple of weeks, and got to the point that I couldn't take it anymore. I changed to a staged non-cellulose filter, and my water no longer smells.
This is a great pre-filter for the Pentek FloPlus-20BB Carbon Block Filter Cartridge, 20" x 4-5/8", 0.5 Micron.

The filters "sediment reduction percentage efficiency" is 1 micron at 83% and 15 micron at 100%
