Sturdy, well constructed

There is, in my mind, a difference in drafting pencils and, so called, automatic pencils. The latter tend to be light weight, harder to control and prone to problems. The Pentel drafting pencil is a professional quality, sturdy and well constructed tool designed to last for years. I have used the .07 mm for many years. It has performed admirably. I expect nothing less from the .05.

Good for drafting, not good for daily writing

Really depressing performance as a normal day to day writer. The pencil lacks in metallic composition and the ability to be less rigid to allow for a more ergonomic handwriting experience like the Graphgear 1000. However this pencil is good in terms of its rigid pencil tip which doesn't move inside the barrel sleeve like the 1000 model. All in all, not worth the price; you are better off sticking to either the Staedtler 925-25-0 0.5mm, the longer more balanced Pentel Graphgear 1000, or cough up an extra $20 to get the well crafted rOtring Rapid Pro

As mentioned by some, this pencil feels nicely balanced as you write but it has a somewhat cheap feel and looks. The plastic tube and the adhesive indicating the number (0.5, etc) is what makes it feel and look a bit cheap. All in all, I would buy it again if the price was lower. I will order the Graph Gear 1000 to compare.

does what it is supposed to do. the eraser is great. the pencil is not a metal body. it has a metal part where you hold it but other than that it is plastic. was expecting a metal body pencil with some weight to it.
