5 Star product. Pentel makes good pencils; but the particular item I recieved from Amazon.con (seller) was obviously used or originally part of a pack. It arrived with zero packaging other than the bubble-envelope it arrived in... Oh, but there was a bit of cardboard stuck to the side of it. Thankfully, whoever packed the item was kind enough to pre-load it with a few pieces of the appropriately sized lead.

Great Pencil! Not what I really want.

I have been a huge fan of Pentel pencils since I was a little boy (I'm about 60).

This is the same classic pencil that I grew up with, but I really prefer the slimmer, cylindrical model called the Pro Am - it feels good in my fingers without the hexagonal edges, and it tends to fit better in the smaller spiral bound notebooks that I use for shopping lists, etc.

It's the same old Pentel, but I almost took off a star, because it came with an annoying factory sticker that I had to peel off - it spoiled the whole, already disappointing experience.

I like the design of this pencil. It's not bad overall but I did end up liking the Graphgear 500 more, as the balance of this pencil is more towards the middle where I would prefer the tip to be heavier such as in the Graphgear 500. I feel like I have to push down harder with this pencil and the lines still come out too light for my liking, though I'm not sure if this is the fault of the lead instead of the pencil. It's a fine drafting pencil with a good looking design and price, just not my favorite.

Lost an old blue 0.7 that was my favorite so I found this one, really comfortable to write and draw with and came way earlier then expected around 19 days I think and there was no packaging with it, it was just by itself in the bubble package which I dont really like (if there was a whole it could've easily fallen out) other then some few nitpicks then I liked it overall and came with 3 pcs of led inside and I myself have no problems with jamming

My only complaint is that they've removed the metal pin that was attached to the bottom of the eraser, which they had back in the 20th century. If a short lead got stuck in the end of the pencil, you could take the eraser out and push the lead through. Not a big deal, but it was handy.

Many years ago I used this same Pentel mechanical pencil at my engineering job, and these new ones are just as good! More recently I've used conventional wood pencils, cheap mechanical knock-offs, and what-have-you. In retrospect, what a waste of time! I do a lot of woodworking, and these babies are just the ticket! Of course the lead breaks from time-to-time, but they save me having to sharpen and re-sharpen some wood pencil. And given the price, and Prime shipping (by the way, if you are a frequent Amazon shopper, this Prime shipping pays for itself in just a few months), you can't afford not to pick up a few.

I use various lead gauges of these for drawing, as well as a Pentel Graphgear 1000, a Faber Castell TK-Fine Vario, and some cheaper ones. Although I love my art nouveau looking Vario, I think these are the best of the lot for practicality and not being distracting in the hand. There are no bells & whistles, they're simply well made, reliable, light and balanced.
You can also take the clip off, which I always do if possible, because I rotate the pencil as the lead wears down at an angle.

BTW, if you want this pencil with slightly thicker rubberized grip, the grip on the Pentel 120 can be transferred across.

The Finest Mechanical Pencil Ever Made

The 'Industry Standard' for a Mechanical Pencil...
I'm a Site Engineer and have used a Pentel P205 every day for over 20 years because it's the best, highest-quality, most-reliable and user-friendly Pencil ever made, and I'd feel naked without one.
One of these fantastic Pencils lasted me for 8 years of hard daily use before the barrel finally cracked beyond-repair, and then I cannibalised the chrome-tip, pocket-clip and end-cap to keep as spares for its' replacement
This probably sounds a bit odd and judgemental, but whenever I see another Engineer using one of these, I think "This guy knows what he's doing", and if I see an Engineer struggling with a cheap and nasty imitation or a piece of disposable plastic crap then I treat everything about them with suspicion until they prove me wrong -Sad, perhaps, but true...

Lovely pencil

Pencil is excellent quality, not too light but comfortable to hold and use. Much more classy than the packs of lightweight plastic disposable type ones you see, and nicer to use. I like that the packs of replacement leads (for this series of pencils - sold separately!) have a cap which matches the colour of the barrel, so easy to spot which you need if you have a few different pencils/packs of leads in a drawer. Bought this as a gift for my son who regularly admires mine! Unfortunately there was not the usual packaging that I expected, just the single pencil loose in a bubble envelope, which makes me wonder if the seller has bought a big box of them and is selling them individually, but obviously this doesn't detract from the quality of the item itself - just not quite as nice as a gift.

The benchmark for mechanical pencils

I've been using this model of pencil for years, I love the precision needle like tip as it allows greater accuracy when making technical drawings. The pencil has an excellent build quality and a beautiful technical design. The mechanism is reliable and it grips the lead firmly so that it doesn't wobble and flex. The eraser located under the cap is a perfect size for correcting minor mishaps without disturbing surrounding lines, the eraser does an superb job and virtually removes all traces of the mistake. The barrel diameter is on the lower limit of what I consider comfortable to use and I would like to see the diameter increased slightly, however the 12 sided barrel makes it comfortable to hold and the sturdy pocket clip prevents the pencil from rolling off of the desk. My only gripe against this pencil is that I keep losing them! Having just lost the one I purchased 5 days ago (that I bought to replace another one I had lost) I am going to have to buy another one as I can't bear using an inferior pencil.

I loved it until it broke. One day it just kept on breaking the leads and then I realised the silver cone part was the piece causing the problem. Every time I would click the button it would snap the lead at the bottom. I tried to find spare parts instead of me having to buy another pencil but I couldn't find any. I would still recommend the pencil as it is a great tool to have. I don't even like using regular pencils anymore. I bought another one to replace my broken one.
