My notes are extremely easy to see and read now. It almost looks like ink and now I'm frustrated for not getting this years ago.
The only drawback is that it can be a little hard to erase, and when you do it could leave some residue on the paper depending on the type of eraser and paper that you are using. So for scantrons I might want to be sure very careful about your answers. Other than that, Amazing!!
The softer Ain leads break less than harder leads of other brands (including the Hi-Polymer from Pentel). Used in a GraphGear 1000.
This lead wears down hysterically fast. I thought 4b pencils wore down quickly but this is actually funny how fast it wears. As a result, you never have a sharp point, it instantly mushes down into what you'd call a medium or broad fountain pen line. Sketching with a very light hand is okay and it erases quite well since it isn't biting into the paper, but if you like thin, crisp lines, this stuff is maddening.
And boy howdy does it break. Never give it more than one click because it snaps like nothing. Which also sucks because one click lasts two sentences or so. In my Rotring 800, this lead is a bummer. Going back to something like a 2B or HB.
So, long story short, my 2 stars is not against the quality of the lead itself. It's pretty much my own fault for not thinking a little harder about just how soft and breakable 4b mechanical pencil lead would be. This would work just fine for sketching, which is kind of the point of 4b lead anyways, but for everyday use in math and chemistry classes, avoid.

I was not disappointed with the quality and durability of this brand. Having never bought this type of thing before, and only using disposable pencils I was very pleased to find that this lead was just as tough and durable as the nano diamond lead that came with my pencil.
They are also just as comfortable to write with, the lead is smooth to the touch of paper and flows brilliantly, an absolute pleasure.
Not only that but you get so many (40 leads) at such an amazing price. The stylish blue container they come in is very tough and keeps the lead safe inside, and the mechanism in the twist cap to open is brilliant for controlling how many leads you wish to remove from the container at any one time.
They arrived very quickly and in a well padded, thick envelope. Very pleased with this purchase and I would highly recommend this product, I'll certainly be buying more when I eventually run out.
- Very durable
- High quantity
- Smooth flowing
- Stylish and durable container (reminds me of an old ipod)
- Amazingly cheap
- Well packaged
- Quick delivery
- None so far, very pleased.
The lead was easy to drop into my empty pencil, clicked a few times, lead emerged et viola! Bonus points for not being super easy to smudge, as a leftie I tend to drag everything across the page as I write but not so much with this lead.
The dispenser is pretty nifty too. None of the lead has arrived broken as far as I can see.
Rubs out well, if you’re as prone to diary changes as I am (some would say flaky).
