Variety of Diameters
Twist-Erase mechanical pencils are available in various diameters from 0.5mm up to 0.9mm (depending on model). Here are some guidelines to help you select the right diameter for you. Keep in mind that you can't put 0.7mm lead in a 0.5mm pencil or vice versa, so it's important that you choose the right pencil for your needs.

Top Customer Reviews
1. The first is, of course, the clicker. It is conveniently located right next to your thumb so you can easily advance the lead by pushing on the clicker with your thumb.
2. The eraser is replaceable with the Pentel Quicker Clicker Eraser Refill (sold as a 5-pack).
The Pentel Quicker Clicker is extremely reliable. I've never had a jammed pencil lead that I've had to clear. It just works. The rubberized grip is comfortable, although it *may* be on the large side if you have smaller hands. The acrylic see-through barrel means you know exactly when to refill the lead. The Pentel Quicker Clicker is - would you believe it - made in Japan.
I've used many types of mechanical pencils; the Pentel Quicker Clicker is by far the most durable, reliable, and user-friendly of them all.
1. The clear barrel makes it easy to see at a glance how much lead is left
2. The metal eraser holder means the eraser stays firmly in place, and you can "cheat" by moving the eraser up, and clipping it back in, to use more of the eraser before replacing it.
3. The metal parts are well made (this pencil is still made in Japan. That should tell you something about the quality.)
4. Advancing the lead is easy and smooth.
5. The soft rubber grip is comfortable and makes taking notes for long classes easy. I even draw with this pencil, because it's so much more comfortable than an art pencil.
6. I can clip to to the inside of a pocket in a bag, and the metal clip won't slide or break.
It's not as "pretty" as other pencils, but since you'll be using it for years, you probably wouldn't want it to be in the latest trendy color any way.
These are getting harder and harder to find (trust me, you won't find them in your local big box department store) so I was thrilled to find them here. The grip is slightly different than the older ones (lots of squiggly rubber lines instead of a solid rubber grip), but it feels even better than the old one. They give you a really generous eraser on the back of it and a real metal clip. Everything about this pencil evokes quality and sturdiness (this ain't yer bargain basement cheapo pencil).
I went through all of college with these things and still love them! If you're looking for an awesome mechanical pencil, give this one a try! You may just fall in love with it like I have.
