2012 album from the French Prog/Tech Metal band. A Perfect Absolution is heavier, more Progressive, and catchier. Features, awesome guest solos by Christian Muenzner (Obscura) and Mike Keene (The Faceless).

This is the first Gorod album I purchased and it did not disappoint. I wasn't sure what to expect with this album and I was blown away from first listen. Gorod incorporates everything from "deathcore" to straight jazz-metal. There's no other way to describe it except tech/death. Its hard, fast, and pleasantly unpredictable, what more could you ask for? Metal album of the year contender up there with Hour of Pennance.

The death metal community is doing themselves a disservice by not singing the praises of Gorod, and their new album Perfect Absolution. NO MARKETING. NO ADVERTISING. I didn't even know it was coming out, and I'm a fan!!! Rarely am I the first to review something, especially after weeks of it being released, but the fact that I am first to review this, is shocking! Not because Gorod are a hugely popular, well known band, but because this album is such a wonderful culmination of all the Tech-Death styles here-to-for known to man plus a few added surprises. Gorod have mastered the Tech-Death riff/shred fest vibe, and mixed with it a songwriting accessibility that makes individual tracks stand out and shine. That is not to say the album suffers any sort of continuity problem, just that each track has it's own signature vibe while remaining true to Gorod's blast happy beginings. "Birds of Sulphur" and "Sailing Into the Earth" rip right out and blaze through before "Elements and Spirit" dazzle and astound. "Carved In the Wind" is downright groovy and "Tribute of Blood" is probably my favorite track, featuring a Carcass meets Obscura Tech groove that is downright exciting in it's headbanging and mosh-ability. Mix in some wonderful classical guitar, flamenco/Latin influence, some more modified singing as opposed to constant roaring or growling of past albums, and the "holy crud, what the hell is he doing there?!?" drumming, this is an album guaranteed to make metal fans thrash fanatically in appreciation.

WOW! fell upon Gorod on Spotify. Was just blown away interpretating the music. Technically perfect, beautiful recorded. Out of this world. Do you love Grinndcore, black metal with a jazzy twist. Buy it! Album you may listen to forever and nevet grow tired. Je suis Gorod.
