Product Description

DO YOU HAVE THE BORING BEER BLUES?
Beer cocktails are becoming more popular and if you are looking for a dramatic way to serve your favorite brews, here is a great solution.
BEER LAYERING IS EASY
It’s easy with the Perfect Black and Tan beer layering tool. With a little practice, you’ll soon be a beer layering master.
CAN I REALLY DO THIS?
Absolutely! Creating layered beer drinks is all about liquid density and gentle pouring. A lighter beer will float on top of a heavier one (like oil floating on water). But unlike oil and water, because the basic makeup of beers is the same and their densities are close, the beers will not separate after being mixed.
So, the trick is to not mix them in the first place! For a great layered beer, the top layer must be gently poured on top of the bottom heavier beer to reduce the mixing and allow the beer layers to remain separate.
Not all beer combinations will layer well but the good news is that you can still drink your failed experiments.
HOW CAN I START?

Start with some good combinations to get your confidence up. Here are some easy beer pairings using canned Guinness Draught on top.
- Black and Tan - Canned Guinness Draught over Bass Ale (The Classic!)
- Black and Blue - Canned Guinness Draught over Blue Moon
- Belgian Brunette - Canned Guinness Draught over Stella Artois
- San Patricios - Canned Guinness Draught over Corona
- Half and Half - Canned Guinness Draught over Harp Lager

Update:
I used stout from the can (nitrogen) and floated on some lager made by Guinness. Looks better but still not as crisp as i would like. Not too bad since i drink winners and failures all the same. I'm happy but wish i could get the poor more crisp between light and dark beer. Oh well the pour continues.
Previous post:
I'm giving it three stars because, even though I haven't gotten it right yet, I believe this gadget works. I just have to figure it out. And I don't mind drinking my failed attempts. It's not like you can ruin beer.
At first, I was using bottled Guinness Extra Stout and Smithwick's Red (Guinness on top of the Smithwick's). It wouldn't work because the densities of both beers were the same. Then, I tried Guinness in the can with the nitro widget. At first, it seemed to work, but, after a while the black beer just settled to the bottom and blended with the red. So, I think my technique is off. I don't know if I should wait until the little bit of head disappears from the bottom beer completely before pouring on the top, if that's the problem. Or am I pouring the top beer too fast? I'm pretty sure you have to make sure you're pouring directly on the dome in the center, rather than on the strainer edge. That much I've figured out.
The point is, I thought this thing would be a no-brainer, and maybe it is. I may very well be over-complicating a simple process. But I have followed what little instructions come with it and have had no success in layering beers.
But I'm going to keep experimenting until I figure it out.
