How could this movie go wrong, it stars two of my favorite actors. I thought a couple of the scenes were a little over the top. One of the story lines that impressed me was the integrity of John's character in keeping his sources confidential but also being such a sleeze when it came to getting a story. The other story line was the obsession that people have about their bodies as if their appearance was all that mattered and their heads could be full of fluff. I would recommend this movie to anyone for just pure entertainment also. If I wanted totally intellectual movies or programs then I would go and immerse myself in deep thoughts like the scarecrow. If you want a movie that's easy on the eyes and brain that still carries an inner message then this is the one for you.

I happened across this movie when my sister bought me the sound track on vinyl at the local Goodwill. I didnt remember the movie but she insists she remembered it. We decided to see if Amazon had it available. It did and so we gave it a shot. This movie is the epitome of 80's nonsense! Leotards at the gym, bad hair, short shorts... The story line is actually pretty good and it kept my ( and my sister - both close to 40 in age) attention all the way through. John Travolta and Jamie Lee Curtis both young and beautiful! There is so much gratuitous gyrating and grinding that it is almost embarrassing - but still very fun and funny and definitely worth the price... although I doubt I will watch it again. If you grew up in the 80's and want a good laugh, Buy it! Watch it! Enjoy it!

First off, If you did not live through the 80's you can't truly understand the concept behind this film. The 80's was all about fitness and aerobics! Gyms were opening up everywhere and the health craze was taking over. It was the beginning of making your workout a social event !! I was only 14 when I saw this movie (FOLLOWING FRIGHT NIGHT AT A DRIVE INN) and for some reason it struck a happy cord, even though at the time I may have not truly understood the meaning behind it all. Maybe the infectious 80's music did it? Maybe being only 14 and seeing all those HOT bodies shaking to the rhythm ? I had my Dad get me the soundtrack after. It's not like it's a horrible plot, there are worse 80's movies out there. This is John Travolta playing a reporter out to get a story on the GYM CRAZE and the relationships that develop behind it. What's so tacky about that? His acting is good. Jamie Lee Curtis looks awesome and her acting is great too! These two are GREAT together !!All I know is that this movie has stayed with me as one of my favorite 80's feel good movies. When I think of PERFECT it brings up nothing but positive feelings. Ohh the 80's !!!

I was rather excited when I found this 80's trash classic on DVD.. Unfortunately it's in the horrid & worthless pan & scan format.... You know, had this been a 1.85:1 film & it was "full Screen", I could have worked with that and adjusted my HDTV to make it 1.85:1, but this is not the case with this film & most of the DVD's that Sony now releases in the 1.33 ratio... I don't think this film ever had a widescreen version on DVD, which is disappointing.

The fact that any company, this late in the home entertainment game, would release a 2.35:1 film in a lousy 1:33 ratio is not only insulting and reckless, it shows incompetent individuals are making key decisions at the studios and they deserve to lose money.. This is yet another DVD from Sony which is worthless, and anyone who cares about movies, and this film, should avoid this version.

Columbia is notorious for choosing full frame (pan and scan) over letterbox or anamorphic widescreen formats. Not only is Perfect NOT perfect because it's pan and scan, but the picture quality is awful--lots of grain, despite the claims about a digitally restored pic on the jacket.
Why spend your $$$ on this sloppy reissue when Amazon has thousands more to choose from....

I cant help it, i have always loved this movie. John travolta is the perfect guy and jamie lee curtis is an absolute knock out. The story line is even pretty good. As far as 80s movies go (and we all make fun of them) this one is a solid must-watch in my book. I always found it odd so few people know about this movie. It was a good, serious role for travolta.

Rented this film before listening to episode #121 of "How Did This Get Made" podcast on earwolf.com .Never new John Travolta or Jamie Lee Curtis made this film. Also never new this was the film responsible for people thinking Jamie was an hemorphrodite. The film itself is not good. But worth seeing once to understand what everyone was seeing on "How Did This Get Made". It's dated so badly in the 80's and definitely everyone involved could do so much better and mostly did.

It could be Perfect.
Jamie Lee ( Halloween) Curtis struts her stuff, leaving John ( Saturday Night Fever ) Travolta in her wake.
She is fit, very fit, so fit and fine like a sublime wine.
I love 80's and 90' aerobics. It is shown here in all it's glory.
Check out Nanette Pattee-Francini about 10 minutes in.
She knew how good she looks, and she liked to show it too.
Thank you.
