wonderful story, but on each page you have search and find pictures.
Like find all of the insects on this page or find all of the animals. This
will really help your child become more observant.
This book is about Peyton and Penny as they celebrate their birthdays
and go to a special place to find a perfect pet. It also is a book to help
you find out which of the 5 love languages your child has. After
reading the book several times there are questions in the back that
will help you to determine which one best suits your child.
The 5 different love languages are:
Words of Affirmation
and Acts of Service.
This book is the perfect size 8 X 10 and has the most colorful,
interesting pictures. Besides being very entertaining it is also very
helpful in learning about your child. It's like a workbook with a
fantastic story to go along with. Your child will only enjoy the story
and not know about the 5 different love languages. I highly
recommend this book. So very interesting.

The illustrations appear to be digitally rendered and are very detailed and colorful.
I love Gary Chapman's concept of the five love languages and I was excited about reading this book because I wanted to see if this book could be used to teach the love languages to very little children. But after two or three pages I had to put it down. It took me three sessions of reading to finish. I was completely overwhelmed. Not only are there lengthy paragraphs with some words highlighted in color, but there are also page activities. You are encouraged to look for insects on every single page of the book. There are also seek activities such as: can you find these six animals on this page? I had to stop after reading each paragraph to look for the items and by then I had lost my train of thought. I did not understand why certain words were highlighted while others were not. There was no glossary in the back.
There is a questionnaire at the end to help you determine your child's love language, but there is no parent guide on how to use the book for the most benefit.
If I were reading this story for the first time to a child, I would leave out all of the seek and find activities and just read the story. This story may need more than one sitting because of its length (62 pages). Then read it a second time using the seek activities.Read more ›

Knowing that my sister is a fan of the 5 Love Languages book, I was excited to receive A Perfect Pet for Peyton to read and review and pass on to her children - my nieces and nephews.
This book shares the story of twins who go to a special zoo to celebrate their birthday. At the zoo, they - and each guest - receive a special pet who shares their "love language".
Aren't my favorite, but they are okay.
How strong is the book?
This is a nice and sturdy hardcover book.
Who the book is for:
I would recommend this book for ages four through eight, but older children could also understand it - and younger ones, too, with an adult's help.
What I liked:
This book helps children understand themselves and others better.
Through this book, parents will learn how to better love their children.
What I didn't like:
This story is a bit long...
Overall, this is an informational read.
I give A Perfect Pet for Peyton 5 out of 5 stars.

Well written, easy to understand, fun, and a great message - perfect! Probably helps if you've read the adult version of The Five Love Languages, but not necessary, I imagine.Published 14 months ago by Cate McKeown
