Such a great story here. If you are a New Adult fan or a romance with a drama filled plot then grab this book NOW. I loved the main character Peyton. She was raised by her Grandma in New Orleans and took over her Grandma's recipes and started a very successful pie shop. Not cakes, cookies or fudge but pie. She had a sense for who liked what kind of pie and could guess them immediately. I liked that because it was one of the unique traits of the character. So her best friend Quinn and her Brother Griffin helped Peyton through some tough times.

Now for Quinn. there is a lot to like about her but I think most is her fierce loyalty to Peyton. She is a very protective friend. The same lightness is offered up for her and her unique talent. Quinn has a thing for underwear. Many references are made her to her along with her quite charming ways of naming panties. It is just this lightness that balances her and her OCD tendencies. Bret her boyfriend is a dream. His best friend Reed, well ..... my oh my he is fine. He is a player who falls for Peyton.

Now more on the Reed front. I liked him because he did recognize that he was living a life of leisure with a variety of ladies. OK now he gets into Peyton and he is taken by her. Is it enough to change his ways?

This has so many deep parts. The characters are all bonded together very tight. There is a secret reveal for Peyton that is huge and then one small. Reed and Griffin provide the drama. I swear worse than a girl on her period in a chocolate haze coma.
Lastly I saved my favorite character for last. Dr Lorraine. There really are no words to describe how freakin awesome this therapist is. She is smart, funny, and determined to help Peyton. She says the funniest things in a one liner type way. I would love to have a Dr.

“You are not broken. You are not dirty. And I’ll spend the rest of my life kissing every inch of you until you believe me.”

Peyton felt broken inside, and I can’t say I blame her. I would feel the same way having gone through at least half of what she endured. She had blocked out the world, especially men, and hid behind baggy clothes and her very successful pie shop. She spent most of her time with her witty best friend, Quinn, whom I absolutely adored. She and Peyton were practically inseparable. Quinn had been there for Peyton every step of the way, helping her heal. They were more than best friends, really, they were sisters.

One chance encounter brought Peyton and Reed Langston face-to-face. See, Reed was Brett’s best friend, and Brett was Quinn’s boyfriend. It only took one meeting to light the fireworks between Peyton and Reed. Despite Peyton’s greatest efforts, she could not resist Reed. He wanted her and so he pursued her. He couldn’t understand why, but he was without an ounce of a doubt, drawn to her. He could see past her baggy clothes and standoffish attitude. He saw her.

“Please don’t let your fear win. I think we’re pretty damn perfect together.”

Reed and Peyton had a very strong connection. They both had their fair share of issues, but together, they just fit perfectly. Unfortunately, not everything came easy for them. Suffice it to say, Reed’s reputation caused some emotional angst throughout the book. You see, he wasn’t a man that was known for having long term relationships, hell, he was a proclaimed player. He had a reputation that followed him everywhere, but he was also a man judged by things that had nothing to do with him.

I'm so glad I bought this book. I've read so many but I do believe this is the first for me by this author. It was everything I could hope for. It has some funny moments, the possessive moments and the serious ones as well. Both reed and Peyton has some issues and although reed is the player or proclaimed man whore he never gave anyone false hopes and he didn't do commitment. He actually never had women at his home or stayed over night but gene he meets Peyton. She is reluctant and resilient. She has faced some devastating things in her life but she had come out of them. She may not be whole but she is a fighter. But Reed is a patient man and will do what he needs to win her over. He has no other choice because he can't get her off his mind. So let the games begin.
I loved the main characters and even the secondary characters. The angst wasn't over the top and nor was the drama. It was the right amount. I loved it. And I'm so happy there were no cliffhangers. It had a very nice and wonderful epilogue that had my heart melting and my face plastered with a smile.

Stories that focus on women who survive rape and trauma are so difficult to read. For one thing, it’s a tricky premise. We have to empathize with the victim. We must be on her side.

There are other rules. We have to accept that it will take her time to recover, take time for her to heal. We have to accept that she may never heal, that she may remain always broken.

Such is one of the questions posed by this book. What does it mean to feel that you are broken and can never be healed?

Peyton was assaulted and victimized several years earlier, but it still feels raw and new to her. Touch her wrong – touch her in a way that makes her remember That Night – and she collapses in fear. Even so, Peyton may have been victimized, but she is not a victim. Her parents long dead, the only family member she has left is her beloved grandmother, in whose home Peyton lives. Peyton owns and operates a pie shop. She is successful and reasonably content.

There has been no romance in her life, though. The closest she has is with her buddy Griffin, her best friend’s brother. Aside from him, though, there has been no one.

Until Reed walks into her pie shop, though. Then things begin to change.

But for there to be a relationship, Peyton has to realize that only one part of her was broken. She has to feel worthy. She has to feel whole. And that’s quite a burden to lay on Reed. To his credit, he accepts it and attempts to have a relationship with her.

Lurking behind every moment they spend together, though, is what Peyton thinks broke her. Our hero has his share of issues as well, although his are driven by his parents. What happens when two broken people come together?
