Improve your balance, massage your muscles, and stretch your tight hamstrings all in one with the PB Elite molded foam roller. Unlike traditional celled foam rollers--which break down and flatten out over time--the PB Elite's molded form doesn't have cells, helping it last three times longer. More significantly, the roller helps your body in a number of ways, including improving your alignment and hip mobility, increasing your core flexibility, and assisting with myofascial release. Flexibility is an important part of achieving and maintaining a full range of motion around the joints. The PB Elite roller contributes by letting you gently challenge your back, hamstrings, hips, abs, and other body parts to improve your core strength and flexibility. The roller also helps with self-myofascial release by putting pressure on tender areas along the muscle tissue (myo refers to muscle, while fascia refers to the tissue that surrounds the muscle fibers). When applying pressure, the golgi tendon organs help trigger the relaxation of the muscle spindles, helping dissipate the adhesions, increase blood flow, and enhance overall movement. Some users also use foam rollers to practice their golf swing, or during yoga and Pilates sessions. The PB Elite roller measures 3 feet long and 6 inches round.

This foam roller is an excellent buy. I bought the largest full round and have already used it to massage my muscles and to perform some stretches. The foam is really dense, so the roller keeps its shape. My trainer has one and he has a variety of people of differing weights using it - and it looks brand new! The quality is super! Perform Better also includes an exercise sheet with advice on how to get the most out of your purchase.

Perform Better is an excellent company and sent it out right away. I had it within a couple of days after ordering. They also give you reliable tracking information. One other thing they did that was fabulous was that they emailed me a copy of the invoice. They are a top notch company! Buy with confidence - both the quality of the product and company are excellent.

I am extremely happy with this product. I have been just starting to run on a regular basis and my knee began to hurt in a way that I had never experienced before (like I had pulled something on the inside of it). A friend suggested that I might have pulled my Iliotibial (IT) Band and suggested that I get a roller for some stretching.

After doing some online research on IT Band Syndrome, it seemed like that is what I had and most of the advice I found suggested rest and stretching with a roller. After doing some further research on rollers I ended up ordering this product. It has worked fantastic. I went with the firmest model because my research indicated that it would provide the quickest/best results. The downside is that stretching with this is not the most comfortable thing in the world, but you can literally feel it working so it's worth it in my mind. The stretching instructions that came with the roller are a huge plus. In just a couple of days I could go out and run again with no problems and now I use it before and after a run to keep everything loose. The ability to use it on my back and other muscles is a definitely another great reason to get it. I've pretty much always hated stretching but this makes it almost enjoyable.

On a side note, the shipping was super-fast. I used standard shipping and got the product the same day confirmation went out that it was sent to me. I don't know if that is normal, but it certainly was appreciated.

OK here is the deal: If you are serious about getting past injuries, improving performance, and reducing further injuries then this is the foam roller for you. This roller has the appearance of hard cork-board on the exterior and the interior is VERY solid. At the same time is is lightweight and easy to handle.

Be warned, this is a very solid roller and WILL hurt when you roll over tight spots in your muscle. This means it is working. If you are serious about getting better though you can move past the pain and feel MUCH better afterward.

If you have severe tightness due to injuries you might want to start with a slightly softer roller such as this one:

and move up to the harder roller when you are ready. For everyone else however this is the roller for you and it will get the job done.

I have spent several years living in front of a computer and it was starting to take a toll on my posture and range of movement. My hips and legs were especially tight and it was causing problems all over my body. After using the roller just a couple times I am already feeling better during running and have much less pain.

I've found most of the videos on the internet are sufficient to instruct you on proper usage, however if you are completely lost or looking for more ways to use the roller for a workout or massage you can check out these videos:

I'm obsessed with foam rollers. They've been the only way I've found to stretch my hips and IT bands, which are tight and painful after running. So imagine my extreme annoyance when someone pilfered the one and only foam roller from my gym a week before my half marathon (and on the day of my long run when I needed it most).

I put in my order for the PB foam roller but estimated delivery was Oct. 13 - Oct. 16 and my half marathon is on Oct. 12, so I went out and bought a much crappier version at a local sports store to tide me over (which turned out to not really work because it wasn't firm enough). And then lo and behold, the PB foam roller arrived on Oct 9th, two days after I ordered it and a solid three days before my race! It's nice and firm and was delivered fast even with plain old regular shipping - perfect!

For this roller in particular:
This brand and size roller is available in my university's weight room. It's very firm, lightweight, durable, and works great! There are only two of these in the weight room, so they see frequent use by many different people on a daily basis (some people are fairly careless with the equipment, too), and have been available for quite some time now. Despite this, they are still in great shape, so I would expect they would last for an incredibly long time for an individual. I am planning to purchase a foam roller after I graduate (and lose my gym membership). I don't know about the other brands out there, but I know this one is very good and the price seems reasonable, so I would buy it.

For rollers in general:
I only recently looked up how to use them, and all I can say is that I wish I had started earlier. I frequently have tight quads and hips (which messes up my knees), and recently I started having pain in the middle of my back. I started rolling out the sore spots at the gym after doing some cardio (the roller is a huge incentive for me to go to the gym in the first place, which is why I haven't gotten one for myself yet), and after a couple of weeks of use, I can already feel a difference: my legs recover faster from exercise, and I have less pain/regained some flexibility in my back. Not a huge difference, mind, but considering that I only used it ~4x/week for about two weeks, I'm quite impressed. (Before using the rollers, I had tried resting my back and using liniment, but I did not see any improvement. Then I tried doing some light exercise -- this helped me move forward the point at which I had to stop exercising due to pain, but it did not actually reduce the pain itself. This is why I believe the foam roller made a difference.)

Company:
As a note, I did not buy this foam roller from Amazon, so I cannot comment on the company's customer service or shipping.
