I don't leave reviews unless I really like a part. I have bought several intakes like this I've the years and this one is the best. Don't waist money on the expensive name brand ones. You will get the same performance at a much better price.
Wipe the tube with a good wax and it will stay nice looking. Cover metal tube when you wash engine or it will spot.
Even though the chrome intake tube was wrapped in bubble wrap, it looked like someone beat the hell out of it. i dont think theres any spot more than 3 inches apart without a dent, ding or major scratch.
ZERO INSTRUCTIONS.. just a box with assorted parts strewn inside.
Ive installed the $250 dollar ones, and now this 40 dollar one.
Know what the difference is?
210 bucks and some cosmetic blunders.
Took me less than 15 mins to install DONT OVER TORQUE THE CLAMPS!! (i didnt, but i see dozens on here who have) tighten till they dont move and stop.
Installed in a 2006 Sierra HD.with the infamous L33 LS6 engine. No mods to anything... tear the old out, toss it in the box (NEVER dispose of the old stuff... ever.) install the new stuff. didnt need instructions, but cmon its cheap, but i dont think it would severely impact their profit margin to throw a single sheet of paper in the box telling you how to install one.
The cosmetics shouldn't be an issue with anyone, because you should be wrapping the tube in heat resistant wrap anyhow to eke out that extra 5 to 10 degrees of cool air.. (header tape or intake wrap will do)
Another trick that works very well for my trucks... The coolant tube that runs to the throttle body, (And back out) keeps your throttle body hotter than it needs to be (they did this for northern climates to reduce tb vane freezing) remove both hoses from the tb and tee them together.. Your TB will now be 80 degrees cooler...
I ordered anouther one for my other car and it looks like it was used everything the the filter was dirty, the first one I order is clean to this day then the one I just got, not very impressed
