It gives details of some of the means that you can use to examine the system and determine ways to evaluate the performance. I will say though that I learned more from an SAP training course; I felt that the book didn't really go into sufficient detail on how to determine what satisfactory values would be for the various factors.
Although much of the book deals with earlier versions of the software, most of the information is still satisfactory for the later versions; although I did spot a number of references that don't quite match the actual system.
