Top customer reviews
1) Internal cable diameter, where these 4 gauge wires do very well - 9 out of 10 score (#2 solid core welding wire trumps all)
2) Clamp design/build. 8 out of 10 score (these are good, but I'm picky.)
3) Cable sheathing. 10 out of 10 score (thick enough to protect from abuse, supple and flexible, non-kinking and non-memory)
UPDATE: March 1, 2016
Even having a new battery, I still kept this cable in my trunk for some reason. And this was a day where this cable needed to perform again. A friend of mine invited me to meet him for a business meeting. Then we decided to go grab a bite and he suggested that we go on his car. He tried starting up the car and the battery was dead. I quickly pulled out this cable and jumped his car (4runner). And guess what, it worked like a charm just like last time. I was glad I could save him. I think I will keep this in my trunk all the time. You never might know who may need help!
UPDATE: Nov 20, 2015
One late night I was shopping and got back to the car getting ready to go home. When I turned the key, the car wont start. I knew the battery was dead after a couple of attempts. Luckily, I had a friend who was a business owner at one of the stores (he drove an older Toyota Camry while I drove a 03 Honda CRV). He agreed to jump start my car if I had the cable. Guess what? I have this cable! I took it out of my trunk and connected my battery to his battery and proceeded to jump. And this cable worked like a charm! I would have been stuck there and probably have to call Triple A to come get me. I am officially changing this review from 4 stars to 5 stars!
Just got a car (03 CRV) and was in search of those “MUST HAVE” items in your car at all times. So I was searching for one of those “kits” that included gloves, hazard reflector triangles, first aid kit, wrench, etc. After some decent research online, I found that most of these kits have a poor quality jumper cable. The thickness was usually too thin to properly work. Since this was a “peace of mind” product I wanted to have in my trunk when I needed it, I did not want to cheap out on it. So I decided to get a decent jumper cable and I came across so many of them on Amazon. I slimmed them down to 3 or 4 final ones and finally, I slimmed it down to this one. The price was right, the reviews seemed positive, so I decided to purchase it. I have not personally used this product yet but when I do, I will surely update this review.
• Thick (8 gauge)
• Long (12 feet)
• 250 AMP (300 peak)
• Clamps look and feel sturdy
• Bright colored cables and clamps (red and black for easy identification)
• No carrying case
Nice and flexible cable. The connection at the clamps look solid. I got the 20 footer because most of the time I have to jump someone is in a parking lot and it's not always easy to get your cars facing each other. This way I can park behind most cars and still be able to hook up the cables. 4 gauge is good to carry a good current.
Nice rubber feel to the cables...close to what those cable that cost 2 to 3 times more feel like.
Absolutely recommended and will buy more as needed!
20' long to accommodate the length of your SUV AND odd parking situations (like your own garage).
Stay with 4 gauge, especially SUVs!
