It was clear where the story was going early on, but it took forever to get anywhere near the action, and even then there was very little action. It never really got better from what seemed obvious early on.
The two main characters, a fifty-ish husband and wife from Oregon, are clearly decent people; however, I had a hard time actually liking them. Plus, some statements seemed judgmental and had me shaking my head. If you love dogs or have an emotional support animal, this story might not be for you.
Then there were plot issues. The couple checked their valuables in with the ship’s purser, but then the wife doesn’t do that with her new necklace. Instead, one night she tucks it into a sock in a drawer, despite believing somebody is rifling through their things. The next day she buries it in a jar of face cream, which she decides is safer than the safe (because she thinks somebody is trying to get into the safe). Finally, the police return property to someone who is not the person from whom it was first stolen. Sigh.
Their youngest so, Jeff has received a full scholarship to Cornell in NY state. He's graduating two years early. Gerria becomes depressed.
Will put a group of cruise pamphlets out for her to look over. She picks the Ocean Haven cruise ship to go to Hawaii. Will also surprised her with a one night stay on the Queen Mary, which is permanently docked.
He even had limousine meet them at the airport to take there & then to the Ocean Haven.
Will also upgraded them to an ultra suite on the ship. This where usually the rich usually book for their cruises.
They become very good friends with Nan & Charlie who live in Hawaii & are in the suite next to theirs. Also good friends with Captain Storkman & his wife Solie.
Strange things start to happen. Gerria gets the chills when their stewart Granby comes to clean their rooms & make beds etc.
There is so much more that happens & characters. Hawaii is so beautiful. But danger lurks. This mystery is really good. Hope you will enjoy this book as much as I have!
