Here we have yet another entertaining mystery from the talented Barbara Venkataraman, and my favorite so far. Not only do we have Jamie (who is such an easy character to connect with) but we also have the great outdoors of Florida and a Renaissance festival! Couple that with more than one mystery and we have a pretty entertaining murder mystery.~Dab of Darkness~
Peril in the Park (Jamie QuinnMystery, Book 3) is the third in the Jamie Quinn Mysteryseries. In this novel, Jamie Quinn, a lawyer who gets involved in unlikelymurder mysteries, is once again the somewhat unwilling participant in twomysteries. A park vandal is creating havoc in the park system managed byJamie's boyfriend, Kip. Kip was hired to be the park director over othercandidates and has made himself unpopular with many of the employees andpowerful members of the city council. When a private investigator is found deadand Jamie starts to get threatening messages from "ICU", she mustuntangle the mystery and protect Kip and herself.
Barbara Venkataraman resurrects a compellingcast of characters that help advance the story. Duke is a ne'er do well privateinvestigator who has helped Jamie in the past and has proven time and again tobe a good friend and very competent investigator. "Best friendforever" and fellow attorney, Grace, figures prominently in the story aswe learn more about Jamie's father who is working to obtain a visa to immigrateto the United States from Nicaragua. As disjointed as all of these story linesseem to be, Venkataraman does a great job weaving them together into a cohesivestory. Peril in the Park is another good book. Once again, this book whets my appetite for the next in the series! ~Eileen Johnson forReaders' Favorite~
