The subject which concerns me above all others is the preservation of Western civilization. No other civilization measures up in human accomplishment over the last two thousand years. It alone is responsible for virtually all advances in the sciences, government, economics and culture.

Why, then, has our valuable civilization embarked on a path to dilute ourselves into oblivion? Why are we committing cultural suicide? Many books have examined various aspects of this question but here, finally, is a comprehensive exploration. In The Perils of Diversity, Professor Roth offers a thoughtful analysis of human differences without being shy about discussing racial, religious and cultural characteristics. He also covers the history and impact of European and American immigration policy.

So many academics are adept at presenting a problem and then disappoint by offering up naive or impractical solutions. Professor Roth is most impressive in this regard and his conclusions demonstrate that he has his feet firmly planted on the ground.

This book as several good aspects. It is very readable--it is difficult only because the author covered so much ground. It is very scholarly and well documented--the chapters have from 75 to 220 footnotes, and many note several sources. This book is also troubling. Professor Roth sheds light on on painful issues that many would prefer not to see or hear about. He points frankly to evident differences in aptitude and temperament between races and cultures and explains the consequences of these differences when people with different abilities and world views are brought together. It is also troubling to read how political leaders in the U.S. and in Europe have ignored the concerns of their citizens with regard to immigration and its consequences. Professor Roth has done a service for his readers by analyzing and distilling a vast number of books, papers, and articles on immigration. It is fascinating, but still troubling. I hope he is wrong, but he makes a persuasive case.

Professor Byron M. Roth has written a fantastic book; well-researched, science-based, and full of useful information and sharp observations. I am not aware of any other book that so thoroughly documents the problems associated with the multicultural ideology that currently holds the Western world in a deadly embrace. Every now and then there appear books that deserve to become standard references and which should therefore be considered mandatory reading for anyone who wishes to understand a particular topic. This is such a book.

The author's conclusion is basically that only a severe economic event that rivals the Great Depression might wake up Western European and American powers enough to take the actions necessary to preserve Western Civilization. He paints a dark picture of America and Europe's futures. This is a scholarly, cited and thoughtful look at science and history with respect to immigration and race. It is not racist or preachy, yet I am sure that it would offend many. It is sad that so many are too busy watching "Dancing With the Stars" and "Jersey Shore" to ever to bother to read it. I have read a number of books dealing with race relations and immigration issues, and this is by far the best and most comprehensive. It is not a quick read, and it is overwhelming. It should be required reading, but I have no doubt that it would be banned on high school and even college campuses for not following the prescribed politically correct indoctrination curricula. If some day archaeologists are digging through the layers of America and Europe, wondering what happened, I hope they somehow manage to unearth a copy of this book. More probably they will just find DVDs of "Jersey Shore" and that will tell them enough.

Dr. Roth obviously did his homework. This work reflects some original thinking and a great deal of research. He is short on opinion and long on facts to support his arguments.
One can't help concluding that we have been doing an awful lot of everything wrong, and our refusal to think critically, as opposed to emotionally, has cost us a great deal.
Neither all races nor all cultures are equal, and refusing to consider them as important considerations in immigration policy is a fast road to national suicide.

This is a thought provoking work. I recommend it.
