Product Description

TAWNY KITAEN AND THE DIRECTOR OF EMMANUELLE TAKE ACTION WHERE IT'S NEVER GONE BEFORE!
Video vixen Tawny Kitaen (of Whitesnake videos, WITCHBOARD, and VH1's THE SURREAL LIFE fame) made her motion picture debut as the sexy adventuress who hires a gruff soldier of fortune (Brent Huff) to help find her missing father. But great perils await them on their worldwide quest, including depraved pirates, scorching deserts, steamy jungles and their own naked desires. And even if they can find the legendary lost Land Of The Yik Yak, will Gwendoline survive her final ordeal against an empire of lust-crazed warrior women?
French sex kitten Zabou co-stars in this kinky combination of INDIANA JONES and BARBARELLA, directed by the infamous Just Jaeckin (EMMANUELLE, THE STORY OF O) and based on the controversial adult comics that shocked the world!
Special Features:
  • Revealing Tawny Kitaen Photospread For Frence LUI Magazine
  • The Last Temptation Of Just: Interview With Director Just Jaeckin
  • Theatrical Trailers

For American bad-movie buffs who wish to remember The Perils of Gwendoline as they originally saw it, this 88-minute English-dubbed version of Just Jaekin's Gwendoline will offer a shamelessly entertaining trip down memory lane. Lavishly produced on a miraculously economical budget of $10 million, this tongue-in-cheek adventure plays like a softcore parody of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone, with sex kitten Tawny Kitaen making her dubious debut in the title role of Gwendoline (loosely based on John Willie's pioneering adult comic strip "Sweet Gwendoline"), a slim, sexy, and virginal adventuress on a globetrotting quest to find her missing father, last seen in the remote jungle seeking a rare and beautiful butterfly. As the plot hurdles toward the mysterious land of an all-female slave culture known as the Yik Yak (where cheesy sets and nudity can be found in abundance), Gwendoline recruits hunky mercenary Willard (Brent Huff) and loopy friend Beth (played by French model/actress Zabou) for a series of colorful misadventures including a climactic chariot chase that must be seen to be believed. So bad it's good, Perils boasts some of the worst acting in movie history, but the constant parade of T&A guarantees that it will be seen and enjoyed long after thousands of "better" movies have faded into obscurity. While Jaekin's unrated director's cut includes a full-length commentary and a few scenes not included here, anyone can enjoy this shorter American version without feeling like they've missed anything essential. --Jeff Shannon

If you liked Megashark VS Giant octopus, this is for you.
It's cheesy 80s drek with lots of women showing their....assets.

It's made to be cheesy and is worth it if for nothing but the chariot race.

It's possibly the greatest chariot race ever filmed. And I include both versions of Ben Hur that I've seen in that.

I haven't looked at the extras yet, but the film itself is as good as I remember.

It's spotty, it gets slow at times, but there's enough laugh out loud moments for it to be worthwhile.

And if the rest of the movie were terrible, it would still be worth it if for nothing but the chariot race.
That's about funny.

I'm so glad to see this film is out on DVD. Brings back great memories of when I saw it in the middle of January in Chicago while staying there for a week with the folks on a business trip. I just had to see this film after Roger Ebert tore it apart during his film review segment on the nightly news. I think I was only about 14 years old when I caught a matinee showing in a downtown Chicago theater. The film itself is nothing but alot of fun to watch and Brent Huff is a total hottie! Lots of nudity, weird bondage outfits and basically a soft porn version of "Raiders of the Lost Ark." The musical score during the opening and closing credits is nice but the dialogue is badly dubbed. The acting is horrible and the actress that plays the Queen has got to be seen to be believed! Total cheeseball of a movie, but loads of fun to watch if you're just in the mood to have a good time. Everyone that I know that has seen this film has loved it. (except for Roger Ebert)

The movie is what i remenber from decades ago first viewing. It movies quickly and acting although a little exaggerated is very good. Photography, sets, complement the story. Althugh this is the American cut, it is still excellent and the interview with Just Jaeckin, director was well done.

Anyone who knows or remembers Tawny Kitaen will love this movie. Crazy dumb plot, but who cares? Tawny is young and beautiful and topless (most of the time) in this movie.

I'd heard this movie was so bad that it was great. The first twenty minutes of this movie were just plain bad and I was bored to tears. Then the movie achieved transcendence, transforming itself into brilliantly awful, certainly intentionally so.

I found Just Jaeckin's "The Story of O" and "Emmanuelle" to be erotic masterpieces, and bought this DVD on the strength of his past work. Frankly, this is possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. Weak acting, plot and script.
