Welcoming 6-Port Feeding Station
This Garden Song classic bird feeder serves as a welcoming feeding station for birds. It provides six feeding ports staggered around the lower half of its long, skinny, tubular frame. Each feeding port provides a unique T-shaped perch that offers stability and comfort, encouraging birds to sit and dine for as long as they like. Made of durable plastic, the bird feeder features a transparent reservoir that allows for monitoring seed levels at a glance. The top, bottom, and each feeding port and perch come in a lovely forest green color that works as an eye-catching accent, nicely accommodating surrounding decor and natural landscaping.
Easy to Fill and Clean
When it's time to fill the feeder, simply unscrew the reservoir from the base and tip the unit upside down. Pour in up to 1.75 pounds of seed, screw the base back on, flip it over, and it's ready to go. The bird feeder can be filled with a variety of seed, including black oil sunflower seed, safflower seed, and mixed seed. Be sure to keep this classic bird feeder clean and filled with fresh seed to ensure happy, healthy birds and many return visits. Perky-Pet recommends checking this bird feeder once a week for insects or mold and cleaning it at least twice a week with a mild soap and water solution, more often in very warm climates or seasons.
After filling this classic bird feeder with seed, use the plastic loop hanger to hang the feeder near a back deck, porch, patio, or a window overlooking a garden or landscaped area in your yard. Choose a location that not only provides a great view, but that is also bird friendly. Birds prefer an open space, so they can easily move from one feeding port to the next. They also like to be in a location that gets both sun and partial shade during the day. An ideal location will be between 5 and 8 feet off the ground and within 15 feet of nearby coverage, like bushes and shrubs, so birds feel safe and protected from predators.
6 feeding ports with comfortable T-shaped perches.

The bottom of this tube feeder cannot be securely attached to this feeder. Last week (Feb. 2015) the temperature in California was in the mid 70s. I wonder if the heat and direct sun caused the thin plastic tube to expand resulting in the bottom of this feeder falling on the ground. The socks do the job and are more environmentally friendly. They do not expand when the temperature is in the 70s. I am returning this Thistle feeder hoping that Perky-Pet finds a way to address the bottom design flaw and uses a more sturdy plastic for the tube feeder to withstand the heat as well.
We hope that this feeder continues to perform well for you and attracts your colorful new friends throughout all the seasons. If you have questions or need additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our Consumer Relations Specialists at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973).

After four weeks, it started to fall apart. Most of the foot pegs broke off. They were not chewed, just sheared off. And here is something I have never seen in a bird feeder (and I have eight running at one time): squirrels chewed a hole right through the side of a tube. Not starting at an existing hole or a top-edge, but starting right in the middle of the tube. Squirrels can do a lot of damage ,but I've never seen plastic soft enough that squirrels start their digging in the center surface. I suspect it was the squirrles weight which cracked the foot pegs off as well, or maybe some crows. Nevertheless, this is pretty cheap plastic.
On the positive side, the unit immediately attracted goldfinches, after years of me not being able to get any. I suspect it is the yellow top - which my bird feed store owner claims does not matter, but this experiment suggests otherwise.
But with any feed but thistle, the goldfinches gave up. The problem with this feeder and every finch feeder I've seen is the small hole size. Many stores sell 'finch feed" which is a combination of thistle and small white oblong seeds. These won't fit through the holes. I don't even think finch feeder openings are large enough to consume thistle. For this feeder as well as a $38 one recently bought, I --carefully-- drilled wider openings. Wala - finches go to town.
So, while this feeder initially promised to do the job, I would it is just too cheap to survive a lot of traffic. The cracked foot pegs are bewildering. Prepare to buy a new one every two months...
