Welcoming 6-Port Feeding Station
This Garden Song classic bird feeder serves as a welcoming feeding station for birds. It provides six feeding ports staggered around the lower half of its long, skinny, tubular frame. Each feeding port provides a unique T-shaped perch that offers stability and comfort, encouraging birds to sit and dine for as long as they like. Made of durable plastic, the bird feeder features a transparent reservoir that allows for monitoring seed levels at a glance. The top, bottom, and each feeding port and perch come in a lovely forest green color that works as an eye-catching accent, nicely accommodating surrounding decor and natural landscaping.
Easy to Fill and Clean
When it's time to fill the feeder, simply unscrew the reservoir from the base and tip the unit upside down. Pour in up to 1.75 pounds of seed, screw the base back on, flip it over, and it's ready to go. The bird feeder can be filled with a variety of seed, including black oil sunflower seed, safflower seed, and mixed seed. Be sure to keep this classic bird feeder clean and filled with fresh seed to ensure happy, healthy birds and many return visits. Perky-Pet recommends checking this bird feeder once a week for insects or mold and cleaning it at least twice a week with a mild soap and water solution, more often in very warm climates or seasons.
After filling this classic bird feeder with seed, use the plastic loop hanger to hang the feeder near a back deck, porch, patio, or a window overlooking a garden or landscaped area in your yard. Choose a location that not only provides a great view, but that is also bird friendly. Birds prefer an open space, so they can easily move from one feeding port to the next. They also like to be in a location that gets both sun and partial shade during the day. An ideal location will be between 5 and 8 feet off the ground and within 15 feet of nearby coverage, like bushes and shrubs, so birds feel safe and protected from predators.
6 feeding ports with comfortable T-shaped perches.

Top Customer Reviews
What really is fun to watch are many other small birds trying desperately to learn to eat upside down. It really is a hoot!
A great part about this feeder is the bigger birds cannot bully the finches around.
On the downside, the unit is made of very cheap plastic. The bottom, that hold the seeds in, is A kind of a "V" shaped (cone) piece of plastic that is not at all sturdy. Some reviewers mentioned adding a rod under the bottom to prevent it rom falling out. That is a good idea, but I am thinking glue might work also.
Another downside is if you live in a very warm climate like I do, is the top might crack from the sun. That said, this is one of but a few feeders like this, ans since it prevents my goldfinches from being bothered I gave it a high rating. It lost a point on quality.
Luckily, for $10, I am not out a lot of money when it eventually breaks (it will). So, if you want to enjoy upside down finches, and are willing to recognize the downside of this feeder and can deal with them, (I buy two at a time), enjoy!
However, if these things will make you crazy, find another feeder. There is a cool triple tube finch feeder I bought on here also. It works very well, but you go through thistle very fast. Also, it's caps crack after a summer in the sun also, and it is much more expensive. Have fun!!

There are a couple of downsides to the feeder, but not deal breakers for me.
First, filling it can be tricky. It is very tall and narrow, so it wants to tip over if you aren't careful. The thistle seed I use comes in a pail, which isn't conducive to pouring into a tall, narrow tube. I overcame this by getting a large funnel at a tractor supply store and trimming the spout of the funnel to get a large 1" opening. With the feeder on the ground and the funnel in the top, I can easily pour the seed right in.
Some seed will "leak" out of the bottom until you have enough in the feeder that the seed holds itself in place, but you don't loose much if you fill the feeder quickly.
The bottom of this tube feeder cannot be securely attached to this feeder. Last week (Feb. 2015) the temperature in California was in the mid 70s. I wonder if the heat and direct sun caused the thin plastic tube to expand resulting in the bottom of this feeder falling on the ground. The socks do the job and are more environmentally friendly. They do not expand when the temperature is in the 70s. I am returning this Thistle feeder hoping that Perky-Pet finds a way to address the bottom design flaw and uses a more sturdy plastic for the tube feeder to withstand the heat as well.
