Perky-Pet Gazebo Wild Bird Feeder
A symbol of shelter and tranquility, gazebos offer space to rest and rejuvenate. Just like the real full-size version, this smaller representation in the form of a wild bird feeder acts in much the same way. This Gazebo Wild Bird Feeder by Perky-Pet attracts birds in search of seed, and it offers them a comfortable place to perch, relax, and relish in the bounty. Even more, the bird feeder brings birds into your yard so you can spend hours gazing at the little darlings from your window or while relaxing on your back deck or patio. Enjoy the entertaining activity of everything from chickadees, cardinals, house finches, and Goldfinches to blue jays, starlings, warblers, and more.
Functional and Stylish
With its round, hexagon shape, this gazebo-style feeder provides an angled roof that helps create some shade and coverage from the rain. The wide, wrap-around seed tray at the base of this feeder offers plenty of space for several birds to comfortably perch and feed at a time. As seed is eaten, more seed from the reservoir naturally falls down into the tray for easy access. In addition to its bird-friendly design, this gazebo-style feeder also offers stylish aesthetics with its symmetrically balanced lines and visually pleasing angles, which add a good dose of charm and beauty to any outdoor space.
Easy to Fill and Clean
Thoughtfully designed, this wild bird feeder comes equipped with a twist lock cap, which helps keep the lid securely closed and the seed inside the reservoir fresh and dry. When it's time to fill, simply give the lid a turn to unlock and lift up for access to the reservoir. This bird feeder holds up to 2.25 pounds of seed, and its transparent reservoir makes it easy to check seed levels at a glance. The bird feeder can be filled with a variety of seed types, including black oil sunflower seed, safflower seed, and mixed seed. Be sure to keep this gazebo-style bird feeder clean and filled with fresh seed to ensure happy, healthy birds and many return visits. Perky-Pet recommends checking this bird feeder once a week for insects or mold and cleaning it at least twice a week with a mild soap and water solution, more often in very warm climates or seasons.

Frequently asked questions
Q. What are the most popular bird seeds to use?
A. Black Oil Sunflower Seed is the most popular bird seed. It is much smaller than the traditional sunflower seed and best for those birds with smaller bills, such as the sparrow, junco and goldfinch. This seed is accepted by the greatest variety of birds.
Mixed Seed is also popular. It is best to buy the mixes that contain white proso millet, a tiny cream colored seed with a shiny shell. Mixes containing finely cracked corn and black oil sunflower are also preferred by a large number of birds.
Nyger (Thistle Seed) is imported from Africa and Asia. Nyger won't germinate, however, it has a tendency to become moldy due to lack of air circulation. If you notice mold on the seed, it must be removed from the feeder and the feeder must be cleaned thoroughly.
Q. How do I clean my bird feeders?
A. Before filling your feeder with fresh seed, it is recommended that the following precautions are taken:
1. Remove all old seed.
2. Soak feeder in a light water/bleach solution (9 parts water to 1 part bleach).
3. Scrub feeder and allow to air dry.
4. Rake and remove accumulated hulls and droppings from underneath the feeders.
5. Spread mulch (bark or wood) under the feeder, replace mulch when soiled.
6. Thoroughly wash hands after handling and cleaning feeders.
Q. What is the importance of providing water for wild birds?
A. Wild birds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need seed. Birds stay healthy by using water not just for drinking, but also for bathing, cleaning their feathers and to remove parasites. Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide birds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for birds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy. By adding a water source, you also can attract a larger variety of birds to your yard. You may even attract more colorful birds that don't eat seed, but are in need of water.

however you get what you pay for. it got knocked down by a squirrel one day and broke. tried patching it up, but nothing would hold it together consistently. it only lasted about four months. there are much sturdier feeders out there, but hard to find one the bird like so much.
To add a follow-up, not only are the squirrels able to get the lid loose, they have not eaten the plastic peak off of the top of the lid on two feeders, but they now go inside and eat at will. I'm thinking that they just move in to get out of the rain.
The squirrels ate the peaks off of both of my feeders so they went out with the trash that they are today.
You can fill the feeders with a wide variety of wild bird seed but if you already have bird feeders you are aware that birds are messy eaters and depending on the food that you use you may end up with corn growing underneath the gazebos. :-)
The only reason that I have to purchase new gazebos periodically is that my neighborhood squirrel(s) chew up the plastic trying to get the black oil sunflower seeds in the mix of wild birdseed that I am using. The gazebos don't fall apart due to sun or weather exposure - just squirrel exposure.
Great price since the gazebos are getting harder to find.
If I hung the gazebos differently so the squirrels could not get to them I think that the feeders would last a very long time.
I agree with many that the "wire" is flimsy and can't hold much weight. It would be a good idea to reinforce it. I only use safflower seed in this feeder. Squirrels don't normally like safflower seed, so it hasn't been bothered by their weight or chewing. My squirrels leave it alone. I do put out dried corn cobs and other treats for my squirrel frenemies though.
I would not recommend this feeder as a solo feeder, especially with seeds or a mix that squirrels like.
My only complaint is the twisty top. If you thought childproof prescription bottles were frustrating, give this bird feeder top a try. Maybe I am physics challenged or mystery issue challenged, but I have a hard time lining up all these plastic slots!
I rate this product a 3 star. Price is right but there are wire support issues and twisty top. But hey, its about $10 so 3 star rating isn't bad.
My only complaint is the difficulty in latching the top. If i tighten all the way, impossible to get off. Occasionally, not tight enough and I have spilled it carrying from house to tree. But I own two and they work very well
i have used it now for 6 weeks and the top is impossible. I cannot tell what the problem is, but the top will not lock securely in place. I use it every third day, so less than 15 days. There is no problem with squirrels. The top comes loose and 1/2 the seed falls to the ground. I would try to exchange it, but i am two weeks past the date.
