While I was hesitant to buy this feeder based on how clever squirrels are to bypass barriers, I found the feeder to be excellent repelling the squirrels time and again. Watch our video where we placed our security camera on the feeder and recorded 24/7 to review the squirrel assaults. We even stacked some bricks to make a platform so it would be easier for the squirrels to jump up on the feeder. Time and again the squirrels made no headway and the attacks quickly slowed to a stop.
The sliding door mechanism works great with a spring to close the door on the feeder openings from the weight of the squirrels but not weak that the weight of the birds will ever actuate it.
The feeder on day 1 had the birds swarming to it. The video of the birds is from the first day.
The design of the feeder opening, with an inside shelf over the feeder hole, is such that the opening does not spill too much seed out when the feeder is jostled.
It's easy to fill and held up well in the weather and with repeated squirrels hanging from it.
We are so very pleased with the Squirrel-Be-Gone feeder with its ability to repel squirrels and attract birds. And on top of all that is a good value.
