The flowers arrived in a huge, impressive box. You almost think you're getting the real thing. They were bundled quite securely--there was zero damage to the stems or petals. The annoying gold sticky tags on each and every last stem had to be carefully removed, but that's pretty standard on artificial flowers of this price point.
The stems are REALLY well done--a lovely life-like green that begs you to touch. With the hubby's wire cutters, trimming them to the desired length was no problem; they're also appropriately flexible so arranging them in any fashion is an easy task. The stems seem designed more for full size Gerbers rather than these minis, but I was still impressed.
This is where my excitement ends. The petals are not silky, rather they have the obvious thick, stiff fabric look you'd fine in the dusty flowers of a roadside diner's centerpiece. All that's missing is the checkered tablecloth! Coupled with the less than desirable fabric, there is virtually no color variation at all in any of the petals...which just adds to the artificial-ness as real flowers tend to vary petal to petal. Picky sounding, I know, but just a few cents of extra care and it would aid the overall authenticity by miles.
I found the capitulums (center) a bit more life-like than the petals, but again, not as nicely done as the stems.
My real issue was when I transported them in a large tote bag to decorate a space away from home, the buds snapped off. Since most artificial flowers can simply be put back together, this isn't a huge offense. However, these particular flowers are too fragile vs their obvious fakeness to require such a delicate hand. I ended up tossing several of the buds. I suppose if you need to travel with them, save the original box!
Since my purchase, the price has dropped; if I sound a touch persnickety, it's that I definitely overpayed vs quality received. But at the current list price, these 18 stems are decent enough to add some fudged cheer to any room. Just be careful with them as though they may appear rather stiff and hardy, much like the real thing, you must handle with care!
And though the description suggests mingling them with the real thing, you'd need to place them in a styrofoam base to prevent water staining--which in my experience w/ artificials, eventually crawls up the entire stem resulting in a flaccid, soggy (and often rusty) mess.
Stalk the price until it drops further; paying anything more than an Andrew Jackson may result in disappointment.
