A must-read for all diehard O&A fans, Permanently Suspended finally answers the questions that everyone has been waiting for: What really happened between Opie and Anthony? What was the reasoning behind the multiple firings? What prompted the tweeting about the Times Square NYC incident? What is the true account of the controversial allegations? What are the never-before-revealed details of Anthony’s stint in rehab? What does the future hold for his livestream podcast? These questions, and many more, will be answered.
Permanently Suspended is a humorous, no-holds-barred account of the legendary career and life of Anthony Cumia—a blue collar guy who made his dreams come true, rising above all obstacles to become one of the most well-known and successful personalities in radio history.

Review
"Anthony is one of the funniest, smartest guys I've ever done radio with, and an unapologetically masculine man, which is an increasingly rare thing in this ever pussified world we find ourselves in." -- Joe Rogan
"Anthony Cumia always makes me laugh with his awful Jimmy Jackson childhood tales. Can't wait to read his Suffolk county reminiscences because he's smart and as quick on his feet as anybody in comedy." -- Colin Quinn
"Cumia pushes the envelope, that's what you have to love about this guy. He likes to ruffle feathers and knows how to tell a story like nobody's business. In that vein, we're very much alike; except I have a bigger penis. Go buy this book... NOW!" -- Lisa Lampanelli
"Anthony is a natural at funny. Quick, sharp and always on point. He has the kind of funny that genius comes from." -- Andrew "Dice" Clay

Some of the most self-aggrandizing, delusional drivel I have ever read.
Will be selling my copy. Too embarrassing to keep this on my bookshelf.
The main problem with Permanently Suspended is that it's just not a very captivating story. Most of the very thin chapters (some just 4 pages long) come across as trite, stale or lacking depth. Overall, it reads like an unfunny and disjointed blog rather than the hilarious life story of a 20+ year radio legend. In that regard, I definitely felt let down after completing the book.
Anthony's genius is his combination of comic timing, dark humor, lack of boundaries, and his ability to talk about almost any topic. On a show like O and A or TACS with no set format and plenty of time to improv and riff off of other people, it's easy (and a pleasure) to hear his brilliance. In print however, the essence of what makes Anthony awesome simply doesn't shine through. The entire book feels like a dull rehash of what listeners have already heard hundreds of times before on WNEW, XM, Sirius and TACS. Like the Boomer Esiason fight for example. Borderline interesting the first few times on air in the 1990's. Not exactly worthy of being a focal point in a book in 2018. What? You broke your string bean hand on his massive forehead?? WE GET IT.
I have to say, Anthony also missed a huge opportunity to get into the nuts and bolts of his troubled relationship with Opie. Since Permanently Suspended checks in at well under 300 pages, there was seemingly plenty of room to expand the narrative and give the fans more insight. To be fair, their ups and downs are covered to some extent, but what's there seems to be more superficial than deep or revealing. Speaking for myself, I would have loved to read more about what it was like to deal with Opie for two decades. That should have been the core of the book in my opinion and not the tired Cumia family history. Another swing and miss pertains to Chip. How about 4 or 5 chapters about Chip's evolution on O and A and some reflection on what he's become? That would have been fascinating to read in depth and a fitting homage to a man who's arguably the most iconic multimedia talent in the world today.
In my opinion, blame for this insipid, boring project falls squarely on the shoulders of Anthony's 2 unknown co-writers. Yes, Ant is a hilarious guy, but he's not an author. That's why co-writers are usually brought in, to conjure up some literary magic and turn out a cohesive book. Instead, what we get reads like a mashup of the old Wackbag forum and a 16 year old shut ins diary. Wrong talent for the job I guess. Maybe Keith, who is universally known for pinching pennies at the expense of Anthony's fans, got a good deal and chose cut rate guys. It's entirely possible. I wouldn't put it past him actually, considering the monumentally oafish and low budget site "upgrade" he spearheaded earlier this year.
With that in mind, I also wanted to mention the physical look and feel of the book which comes across as very cheap. Knowing his history, I can't help but feel Keith was behind this decision too. This is a book from one of the biggest talk radio stars in recent memory short of Howard Stern, and the finished product absolutely looks like it was printed by amateurs overseas with the cheapest methods and materials possible. If it wasn't Keith, whomever made this call did a major disservice to Anthony's legacy. This book is the culmination of a Anthonys extensive work in radio and media and yet the paper quality is low grade and the binding was poorly assembled. For example, on the page at the beginning of the book where you see Anthony's full name and "suspended" Twitter image, the A in Anthony is cut off because they overglued it to the previous page. Rookie mistake and something that should never have happened in a book written by someone of Anthony's stature.
In the end, I'm absolutely disappointed with the quality and content in Permanently Suspended, but truth be told I wasn't expecting much. And to be honest, I get so much comedy and entertainment value out of Anthony on TACS and other shows like the Chip Chipperson podacast, that wasting $20 doesn't even register as an issue for me.
However, the book is highly unprofessional and littered with lazy typos starting from the opening paragraph “I was born in the City of Manhattan” - Manhattan is a borough.
The content of this book is essentially rehashings of Old OA bits and it comes off as lazy and tired.
Ultimately I don't know if this come together due to having (two?) co-writers or whether Anthony's humor just does not translate to the written word. Minor note, the book is a bit out of date, as it was finished before Artie was let go from the podcast. Would have been interesting to read about that.
Still rooting for Anthony but the book didn't hit the mark.
