I used a couple of pieces of copper wire to hold the bandage in place then ran my bike another 20 minutes, that s**t melted onto the exhaust perfectly and sealed the hole permanently.Very happy with this product.I noted other reviewers were unhappy with this product,I have no answer as to why their applications didn't work, but in my case,it did exactly what it stated it would do.I purchased 2 packets just in case so now have a spare. This particular package, the width of the wrap is 2" wide and 42" long,so 3ft 6" long, which for a 2" muffler on a motorcycle is ideal, however, only being 3 1/2 ft long,I would imagine on a car or truck muffler you would need 2 or 3 packs to do a good repair. This product is WAY too flimsy to fix a break in a exhaust, but will seal a crack or split muffler box.
Again, this really worked for me,BUT I DO value reviews,so,I am guessing this doesn't work for every type of application.Like I said,I used regular tin foil, folded it to the size I needed, pushed it in place BEFORE I warmed the bike up,so it molded itself into the shape I needed, took the foil off, warmed the bike for about 20 minutes, then put the foil in place,THEN wrapped the exhaust pipe, held it snug in place with some copper wire, ran the bike until this product had melted in place, took the copper wire off.Inspected the following day to find this stuff had sealed PERFECTLY!!! In my case,GREAT value for money.WAY worth the few $$$ spent.
The leak is totally sealed now, and it looks like it will outlast the pipe itself.
So I give this product 4 stars, but only because the instructions are not good at all. I guess when you put two languages on a package, you run out of room to explain the product like you should to people who speak English. They should put the instructions on paper and put them in the package so they can explain better how to use the product.
I will buy it again if needed. Overall a good product that can save you a LOT of money (in my case it saved me $280.00), and the price is super CHEAP. Good value for your money. Permatex products are always good products for the money, which is why I bought the product in the first place.
