I used this product at the tail end of my catalytic converter. It broke right at the flange, I used other products such as a VersaChem paste, and a high temp stick epoxy, none of those work. I then purchased the Permatex 1000 degree bandage. At first I did not know how to use the product, because what you get in the package is a roll of wire, and a foil package-inside is the bandage-it had a foil backing, I had no clue what to do with the foil backing. Anyhow...I applied the moist bandage, wrapped it around the pipe and flange--wrapped it up a few times, pushed and squeezed, and molded it like how I needed. Unwrapped the wire-which was somewhat difficult and wrapped a few turns around my bandage repair. Ran the car for about 30 mins. No noise, leaks seems to be fixed (for now). A much better product than those paste, putty, stick products out there. I believe the high temps are a problem with these type of products. Permatex worked for me. I would definately use it again if I needed it.

I bought 4 of these kits thinking I would need 1 kit for each side of the 2 band clamps I was attempting to seal, especially since they're so cheap. There's about 3 feet of the "bandage", and it is soaking wet in the mystery fluid that hardens up after heating. The wire, as mentioned by other reviewers, is a joke. I didn't even attempt to use it. I used some stainless steel locking ties instead.

This was going on my stainless steel exhaust, so I can't comment on how well it works over rusty steel exhausts. I ended up only using 2 of the kits (just cut the bandages in half), so now I have 2 spares, incase they don't hold up. But right now (after 1 week) they are keeping it leak free, so far. I will update in about a month of useage.

Followed all directions, including cleaning to a shiny steel. Patch looked great after installation and running on idle for 30 min. Next day, took it up to 60mph, all the holes blew right through the patch.

A waste of time and money (mostly time). Tried wrapping this around my tailpipe, but it doesn't adhere at all, so you can't get a good tight wrap, and if you pull on it too hard the threads start separating. Got it around my tailpipe (but it wasn't pretty), and wrapped some wire around it. Left the engine running on idle for 30+ minutes.....it hadn't even started to harden. Needless to say I pulled the entire mess off and I'm going back to using putty, which I've had great results with before.

I just got back from trying to wrap this around a muffler pipe. The bandage fell apart as soon as I started working with it. I assume that's not the way it's supposed to work, but that's how it did work. By the time I had the thing wrapped around the pipe, it was a mess of tape and backing. It did not hold. The support wire that came with the product was all wrapped up and impossible to untangle and use. What an awful product. I won't be buying it again.

I have an pair of aftermarket high flow cats that lead to my h-pipe. The cats are bolted to my long tubes and then I used two band claps to connect the cats to the down stream H-pipe. The band clamps are the thin flexible type and did not provide a good seal.

To fix this, I used this 1000 degree wrap. I wrapped two full turns are the end of each cat AND around the end of each down stream pipe. I then clamped the band clamps over the wrapped pipes.

I let the car idle for the directed 20 mins and the seals are perfect.

I did not use the wire wrap that was included, to difficult to untangle. Instead I used some wire ties. They held the wrap in place just long enough for it to harden before the heat melted them off.

Good kit for fixing scraped exhaust system. For a total cost of about 20$ the package to repair heated car parts is excellent.

I fallowed the instructions, I even used extra wire to help hold the patch to the tailpipe. When I started my Jeep the exhaust blew a hole right through it. The only way I think this product would work is if you used a torch of some kind to warm it up -a lot- before you turn on your vehicle that way the patch is already semi hard.
