So maybe Sarah Palin wasn't the most articulate of politicians. She was still a political force of nature who paved the way for Trump and the MAGA movement. Contrary to popular opinion, the book demonstrates that Sarah Palin very likely helped the boring McCain campaign. The book also demonstrates how she was unfairly scrutinized when others like Obama and Biden were given soft ball questions.

Maybe it is because I was very familiar with the fact presented within but I found Matthew Continetti's volume on the subject just tedious.
Continetti faithfully follows the media's path and determination to bring down Sarah Palin all the way up to her use of facebook to respond to the President's current policies. It details attacks in both regular media and electronic media and the blogs showing what people were saying and where it went wrong.
If you are a Palin fan who wasn't on the net the book might have value in the sense that you will see the source of some of the media's attacks but if you were on the net it will be a handy guide to what was said...
...or it would be if he had listed the links used as footnotes on the pages or even a back page at the end containing them.
Like Going Rogue: An American Life there is no index. Unlike Going Rogue I suspect it isn't a clever trick to force the media to read his book. I suspect it was a question of finishing the book quick so it could be released at the same time to boost sales.
It worked with me, I bought the book to make the $25 for free shipping with my Going Rogue: An American Life order. I think I would have been better off with an extra copy of Palin's own book or maybe War on the Run: The Epic Story of Robert Rogers and the Conquest of America's First Frontier .
As a money making enterprise and as information on the attacks on Sarah Palin this book is going to work. As a interesting, relevant and readable volume, not so much.

The author of this book did a generally good job of correcting false information about Palin that was disseminated through out the campaign. As many people know, the media abhors a vacuum and that is exactly what they faced when presented with Palin. What do you do next? Dig for whatever you could find. Given that Palin had stepped on a few toes in the Republican Party in Alaska, it is not surprising that there was plenty of dirt to be found, as people were using her candidacy for payback.
The author also does a good job of exposing the problems within the campaign itself. They were so wrapped up with catching the media off guard with her pick as VP, they forget to give the staff the background information that would have allowed staff members to quickly squelch unsubstantiated rumors. A valuable lesson is there for future candidates.
I do think the author spent a little too much time dealing with blogs and tabloid type papers, which I don't consider viable media streams. More focus on the MSM would have made the book a better read and would have made the case stronger than it already is.
The book should be read by all those who believe Palin will be a viable candidate in the 2012 primary or general election. Many people have already made u their mind about Palin, which is unfortunate. This book might change a few minds.

Sarah Palin was bushwhacked at every turn by the left media and this book chronicles it by an author that is hardly a right winger.

Excellent research. Factual. From an Alaskan who knows her. The main stream media should be embarrassed. Long live Sarah Palin!

Mr. Continetti has written a compelling, thoroughly researched book that dispels the myriad of Sarah Palin 'urban legends' that abound.
During the election of 2008, mainstream media routinely revealed their obsession with some of the candidates - be it cult-like worship for Obama, or rabid hatred for Sarah Palin. In either case it was a huge disservice to the electorate, and besmirched the profession of journalism.
Mr. Continetti's book, coupled with Bernie Goldberg's "Slobbering Love Affair with Obama" should be required reading for all aspiring journalists. Please - please learn from your history, quash this insidious trend, and restore integrity to what has been, and could again be, an honorable career path.

This book brilliantly takes apart and disproves the vicious smears that the leftist media used to attack Palin during the 2008 campaign. The book makes an excellent and irrefutable case that the media's politically-motivated portrayal of Palin, which was almost inversely proportional to the extraordinary efforts made to ignore and explain away any negative information about Barrack Obama, was unprecedented and bore almost no relation to the truth. Unfortunately, more than a year after the election, the campaign against Palin continues unabated. Today's so-called "fact-checking" article by the Associated Press is so ridiculous that it almost reads as a parody. For example, the eleven (!) contributors to the article take on the role of mind-readers, challenging Palin's claim that she was driven by "purpose" instead of "ambition" by characterizing her book as having "all the characteristics of a pre-campaign manifesto." Hopefully, Continetti's book will help to set the record straight about who the real Sarah Palin is.
