Edition: The Wild Cards Premium
This game is not a regular Persona game for the 3DS. That has to be put out there before continuing. There is no social gaming, no year-long adventure, no exploring outside the dungeons (labyrinth), no nothing. It's a very bare bones experience. Instead, what you do have is a whole lot of dungeon crawling and fan service (err, not that kind). This isn't lethal to the whole experience and if you go in with your expectations tempered in advance then you'll find yourself having a fun time re-entering the world of Persona 3 & Persona 4 and enjoying the character interactions that were the best thing about those games.

The gameplay in this game owes little to Persona and everything to Etrian Odyssey. Those games feature a similar dungeon system, the same basic controls, and the same lack of options. They're also by Atlus, so it's not that surprising that they would copy their own system for this game. The way the dungeons work is this: you walk around in first person mode moving one square at a time using the directional button. The analog stick only allows you to look from side to side. After a certain amount of moving you will be attacked (you generally have warning when this is about to happen) and the game switches to a combat system not that dissimilar to the regular Persona one except that you have to manage which players are in the back row and which are in the front.

There are also big monsters (F.O.E.s, short for the atrociously ungrammatical fusis oikein eidolon, or creature to live in ghost.

I maybe biased as I am a die hard Persona fan, but I will try my best to give an overview of The Wild Cards Premium Edition. This is a review of the extras included in the Premium Edition.

1.The Case
The case isn't huge. This maybe a downside if you have a 3DS XL as you will only be able fit your 3DS and not much else. If you have a regular 3DS, the case will be able to hold your 3DS & a few games. This is handy if you don't already have a carrying case. The design is cute. The case seems to be made of a rubbery material. So it should be able to handle a few dings & still look good unlike a hard plastic shell where the designs may scratch off.

2. The Tarot Cards
The Tarot Cards have a gloss feel with the width of stiff construction paper. They won't bend as easily as regular paper although they are paper & will bend if you bend them. The cards are the second of a 2 part set. I was a little disappointed because I thought we would receive all the cards. For the full set, you had to have also bought the limited edition of Persona Arena Ultimax that contains set 1. The second set also comes with the first release version of all Persona Q games.

3.The Art Book
The art book is a 32 page book. On the first page is a heartfelt thanks from the director, Daisuke Kanada, for buying the game. It is a small book that has pictures of the characters and small excerpts about them. The book is 7 1/4 inches long & 5 1/4 inches in width. It isn't super amazing. For anyone who has preordered a game and gotten a 200 page art book with initial sketches and finished designs of the characters, this book won't impress you. It is nice to have though. My book also came with some scuffs on the spine. The scuffs are small but, I was still bothered by them.

Love the game, the bonus content is fun for a Persona series fan. One thing that did bum me out is that they were selling the actual Persona Q 3DS elsewhere for 177, so I could have bought it for just 90 dollars more. Oh well. Honestly the case is kind of cool but not super useful, I don't find myself keeping my DS in there, but again, if you are a Persona fan it is fun.

Game was a lot of fun and held my attention more than most games. If you like Persona you should enjoy it. One caveat, if you really get into the micromanaging the daily activities like Persona 4 where you have to manage relationships and such, this is not as detailed, but still fun. You get to the action much quicker than most SMT games, so that is a bonus too.

It's nice that they're still selling the premium edition of this even though the games been out for just about a year now. I was even more surprised that Amazon themselves were still selling it versus other 3rd party merchants on Amazon selling it. The price has also been very stable for the last year too. I think it was $79.99 when it was 1st released and now it's $52.90 as of the time I'm writing this review. It was $59.90 when I bought it which was a few weeks before I wrote this review. If you're a fan of any of the persona games (not just 3 and 4), I'd say buy this. Why not unless you don't have a 3DS? My only gripe (not worth making it 4/5 stars) was that there was a dent on my box. You can tell something must have happened while it was moving through the shipping process. Maybe it fell off a stack of packages or bumped into some things. Not sure but it was very minor and didn't detract from this review at all. I still thought it was worth mentioning though. I show a picture of the dent for those who were curious.

Anyways what all comes with this (pictures below) are follows:
-Persona Q the game
-A cool Persona Q themed 3DS case holder (will hold 3DS XLs and NEW 3DS XLs)
-Sound of the Labyrinth soundtrack disc
-An awesome 38-page Persona Q artbook (I really like the spider cover)
-Set #2 of the tarot cards (11 cards total)

You're getting all of that for just around $20 more than the standard game. What are you waiting for? Get it!
