Jana Pritchard is a greeting card illustrator working from home and the highlight of her day starts to become the arrival of the hot delivery guy.
His nametag might read Dane but he’s really Jake Aston, now CEO of the recently acquired SwiftEx delivery corporation, and he’s gone undercover to gain insight into the mechanics of his new company.
Right off the bat, I gotta admit I was jealous of Jana. I mean half the time I can’t even get my delivery guys to ring the doorbell so I know I have a package before they take off yet alone wait for me to answer the door and then make pleasant conversation. But Jake is as smitten with Jana as she is with him.
Points on this one for an original premise. It’s getting harder these days to find romantic set ups I’ve not read many times before so this was a cute new angle for two people to meet. It’s not new to the porn industry I’m sure so points again for taking a porn trope and turning it into a sweet and sexy story.
There’s no shortage of either sweetness or sex in this tale. Jake is an all round great guy. He’s been a workaholic so he’s thankfully not a manwhore. He’s devoted to making his companies better, and then he’s devoted to making Jana…well pleasured.
Told via Jana and Jake's alternating first person POV, there are plenty of steamy encounters here. And if you are looking for a smooth story of how two people get together and make it work then this is a no drama/no angst read to pick up. I can’t begin to tell you how refreshing it was that there were no scheming, trouble-making exes or contrived conflict, nor is either character broken or troubled. It’s just two available singles who find a connection and go with the flow, making their love story feel down-to-earth even though it’s also a Cinderella tale.
Jana is an illustrator with a thriving business. She has the perk of being able to work from home and she has her adorable cats to keep her company. Still her love life is all but nonexistent. That is until the delivery man makes his way into her life. Who would have thought getting crazy packages from her well meaning friends would change her life forever?
Jake is a billionaire in disguise. He's not just a SwiftEx delivery man dropping off packages on a route with the beautiful, eccentric artist as one of his routine stops. Oh no... Jake has a secret that can change everything. He never expected to fall for Jana and her horde of cats but he does - and he falls hard. But he's afraid that his secrets will change everything.
This was so fun! Just the best fun to read. Jana is feisty and eccentric. Jake is swoonworthy and just... yummy. Together these two kept me in stitches and running for a fan to cool off. The chemistry between these two kept me happily returning each week for more. It's always fantastic to see the quirky girl get the supremely hot guy and on the icing on the cake? He's a billionaire! I just loved this! Absolutely loved this book! Sweet but steamy... romcom at its best. Great job, Ainsley!
1.) There's no epic fight/break-up moment between the H & h. That's a good thing? Some of you might be asking yourselves. Yes it is. It's there in almost every romance and it gets old. It's refreshing to read about a couple that just click and don't have that unnecessary drama to get over. Some stories might be boring without that inevitable conflict but this one wasn't and I think that's just the result of good writing. It was anything but boring and I enjoyed it immensely. That brings me to number two.
2.) Ainsley is hysterical! Seriously she had me cracking up. She doesn't write slapstick actions in the hopes she'll make you laugh its her witty dialogue that gets you. It felt like every chapter I was stopping to cut and paste a quote from the story into Messenger to a friend backing up my comments about the book I'm reading being funny.
Buy this book. You'll love it. I promise!
Not sure? Alright, here's a list of important aspects you might be wondering about.
1.) Cheating? Nope.
2.) Cliffhanger? No.
3.) HEA (Happily Ever After)? Yes! Epic proposal included.
4.) Violence? Nope, just a sweet little contemporary romance.
5.) Writing/Grammar? Ainsley is a fantastic writer, this was easy to read, smooth and entertaining.
6.) Sexual content? Vanilla/MF, nothing violent or taboo/gross but hot hot hot.
7.) Would I recommend this book to my friends? Yes! All.
8.) Premise/Trope? Billionaire sweeps regular girl off her feet. You know the story. Pretty common but surprisingly well done.
9.) POV? Dual
