My very floppy eared beagle flipped over her ear and to my horror it was torn up; red, swollen & very irritated. She obviously had an infection and had been scratching at it. I felt terrible I didn’t notice it sooner. I bought the zymox otic because it’s a cleaner and treatment all in one and has hydrocortisone which I knew she needed badly to bring down the swelling from scratching at it. The medicine is a clear watery gel, something I wasn’t expecting. I thought it would just be liquid. The gel works great though because it suspends in place so you can really get to every little fold and crevice inside the dogs ear. I started with the outside of the ear cleaning as I went with cotton balls. Once I had all the little pieces of scab cleaned up I went for the ear canal. It says to fill the ear canal with medicine and then wipe away. I filled it and then massaged the ear to make sure it went deep enough. I then tilted the dogs head the other direction and let it drain out and wipe wipe wipe. The next morning was a big difference!! It was looking a lot better. I was still nervous though what if it didn’t work. When we woke up the 3rd morning I checked her ear and it looked so good I had to do a double take to make sure I had the right ear. I can’t recommend this medicine enough. We are continuing treat. It says 7-14 days but looking at these results I think a week will be plenty. I just wanted to leave this review to help other dog and cat parents. This medicine treats fungal and bacterial infections using 3 types of enzymes so you are good to go using this either way. I highly recommend! Worth every penny!

Update* after reading some of the 1 star reviews I just wanted to add that it is always best to have your animal evaluated by a veterinarian. Some animals may need an antibiotics to treat an ear infection and this treatment may not be enough. Also if you see that your animal is suffering from any adverse reactions it is best to stop the medicine and have them evaluated medically immediately. Just like with humans, some medicines can have side effects that can be severe. Not all medicines work for everybody or everything 100% of the time. People and animals alike can be allergic to certain ingredients. It is best to closely monitor your animal whenever they are taking a new medication whether prescribed by a vet or bought over the counter and even when it’s something as simple as a topical medication. This medication worked great for my pet but I do check my dogs ears weekly because she’s a floppy eared breed. More than likely I caught the infection very early when she was symptomatic for only a couple of days. This may have contributed to how successful the results were for my dog. On day 4 now and all symptoms are gone, however I will continue to monitor the ear for up to 4 weeks to make sure the infection doesn’t reoccur. I’m very sorry to the pet owners who had adverse reactions to this medicine and that you didn’t share the same experience myself and many others had with this efficacy of how well this product worked. Your reviews are the reason that I felt it necessary to remind people that medical intervention first is always best.

My old man husky all of a sudden started to lose his hearing, but i never noticed any ear issues or that he was bothered by his ears as there was no scratching or head tilting or such. I did look into his ear and saw some wax build up and promptly cleaned it out, however he still had some trouble hearing. I got this to try considering the numerous good reviews thinking maybe he has an infection or something, however after the first two days of applying this, he went completely DEAF, as in could no longer hear anything whether it be a whistle, me calling his name extremely loud, or other dogs, he was unfazed by any of it. While it didn't seem to cause him any pain or annoyance. i.e. no scratching, head tilting, etc after applying, i wasn't sure. I stopped using the product as some older reviews apparently mention the same issue which can be caused by the ear canal becoming blocked with the thick ointment, and that their dogs hearing slowly came back after a week or two as the product dried up/dissipated, i will be keeping an eye on him to see how things progress. I am terribly upset that i could be the reason that my dog has completely lost his hearing by using this product. While it seems almost all ear products for dogs come with deafness as a potential side effect, proceed with caution.

I am a broke college student and when I moved into my own place and Lilo started to experience some irritation in her ear, I took her to the vet. Spending $200+ on a vet to tell me she had some irritation and it should, but should be fine and if I notice anything worse to come back in wasn’t ideal. Her ear continued to bother her and airplane ear on her right ear became her new look. I did not want to spend the little money I had to just be told to come back when it’s worse again, but that is my girl. I looked high and low for something that would help her. I bought this product and within MINUTES of using it her ear no longer was on airplane mode. I’ve used these drops since 2021 and every time her ear gives her issues, these drops save the day in a matter of seconds. I cannot recommend this product enough. Saves so much money on vet bills and so much time worrying that your fur baby is in pain or uncomfortable. Don’t even think about buying this product, just do it. It’ll work. I’ve let my cousin use them on her cat that is always have issues with his skin and ears and his ears haven’t looked this good ever. This is the only product I will review on Amazon because of how much I love it and swear by it.

I got this because I noticed my pup shaking her head more, trying to scratch the inside of her ears, and the smell of her ear started to change a bit to a mustier scent. She had just went through pneumonia treatment (via kennel cough) and I really didn't want to put her through yet another vet appt, so I decided to give this a try first.

In the first 2-3 days, the symptoms I noted above were 98% gone. I'm on day 5 now, continuing with the 7 days as recommended. I do think I caught the infection early on because i've been super vigilant about any weird symptoms as she's still on antibiotics/recovering from being sick... but I was still shocked at how fast it worked for her.

Also, the process to apply is not difficult for my dog at all. Putting the medication in her ear was a bit jarring at first... but she actually likes the ear massage. She'll just kind of lean into it. I'll definitely keep this on hand and be repurchasing as needed!!

I have bloodhounds, they have ear problems- just comes with the breed. Our 7 month old got an ear infection and the vet charges for the visit and $280 for the medication...got this instead to try before paying the vet fees and it's only day 2 (will continue for the full 7 day cycle) but her ears look less red and she didn't scratch or shake last night while trying to sleep. The smaller bottle will be more than enough to last this cycle and probably 2 or 3 more 7 day cycles if we need it. We also use the same brand for an ear cleaner so I think these paired together if you have a droopy earned breed is a good option to battle ear infections. Did not notice a smell really. I did use a dry cotton ball to wipe out the grime on the outside if the ear today just to keep from wiping it off my walls later.Will buy again.

For me it works better than anything the vet ever gave me and costs less. When it comes to ears, you just have to be sure you are using the right stuff for the problem. My vet advised no problem using this on my dog. He was honest. Some vets would say it is no good and want you to buy theirs that cost much more. But if you look at the ingredients on what you get from the vet and look at this one, they are very similar. At least that was the way for me with the script from the vet. May differ if your dog needs something different based on the problem.

I have to keep our gate bungee corded closed so our Labrador does not go for a swim during every potty break and any time he is in the water we try to clean his ears with a cleaner solution. A few time each year he will start shaking his head and scratching a ear and whining this is when this stuff comes out it will clean and fix his ears overnight just put it in the ears and rub it in the next day clean his ear with cleaning solution. Very good stuff I recommend it if you have dogs with ear problems. No odor or perfume in this.
