About the PetSafe Drinkwell Pagoda Pet Fountain
Give your pet the fresh water they need. With the Drinkwell Pagoda Pet Fountain from PetSafe, your pet can enjoy filtered, fresh water every day. This ceramic fountain uses a pump to recirculate water, continually passing it through two filtration systems. The foam filter removes debris and hair and the activated carbon filter removes any bad tastes and odor from the water. The water in your pet’s Pagoda fountain is constantly moving, inhibiting the growth of bacteria while also encouraging your pet to drink more.
With multiple styles and color options, ceramic fountains from PetSafe Brand fit seamlessly with modern home decor. These fountains are more than a water bowl, they are a home accessory.
Activated Carbon Filter
The carbon in our filters is derived from organic coconut shells. Activated carbon absorbs basic water contaminants, as well as chlorine from tap water. This helps improve the taste and remove odors from basic drinking water.
Free-falling streams help circulate fresh water and provide your pet with multiple drinking areas: the top, the two streams and the bottom bowl.
Hygienic and Easy to Clean
The ceramic material of the Avalon pet fountain is top-rack dishwasher safe. The pieces can easily be disassembled for cleaning.

The PetSafe Drinkwell Pagoda Fountain combines fashion and function by providing you with a stylish home accessory that also provides 70 oz. of fresh-flowing, filtered water for your pets. The hygienic ceramic design is non-porous and easy-to-clean. The activated carbon, coconut shell filters help absorb molecules out of tap water that can contribute to poor taste and smells. The Pagoda Fountain is available in 4 colors: Porcelain White, Stoneware Red, Taupe or Himalayan Blue.

DirectionsThe PetSafe Drinkwell Ceramic Pagoda fountain creates a multi-level bowl with running water for your pet's ideal drinking experience. Cats often don’t get the water they need to stay properly hydrated and getting them to drink water can be a challenege. Thankfully, PetSafe has created the Drinkwell Ceramic Pagoda fountain to entice your cat with clean, running water. The fountain uses a charcoal filter to remove dirt and hair from the water as it flows through the fountain and makes an excellent drinking source for cats and dogs alike. Combined with the water flow, the filter creates a clean, fresh source of up to 70 oz of water. The Ceramic Avalon Fountain utilizes a square porcelain design to conveniently fit into any corner of your home. The fountain also adds oxygen to the water through its dual patented free-falling streams to keep the water as fresh as possible. The fountain functions using a 12-V system with a pump that is submersible for silent operation. The PetSafe Drinkwell Ceramic Pagoda Fountain is easy to assemble and disassemble for cleaning. To clean it, simply remove the pump and place the fountain in the dishwasher for a quick and easy clean. The charcoal filter is replaceable to ensure that your fountain’s water stays clean. In addition to being easy to clean, the porcelain fountain creates a nice aesthetic in the home and is also more hygienic than fountains made from other materials.

Top customer reviews
About a month ago, I purchased the Drinkwell 360 Stainless Fountain when my Drinkwell Platinum started getting harder & harder to keep clean, and when I read that plastic parts can contribute to feline acne & harbor bacteria. After researching the different fountains, I had settled on the stainless Drinkwell 360. While it's better than the plastic models, there were still some drawbacks: the spouts are still plastic (and that's where one of my cats likes to lap up water) so I still had a concern about the plastic/acne connection. And even though I read about the dimensions of the unit, it still took up a larger footprint in my small kitchen than I thought it would (admittedly, that's my fault for not measuring). There was also an inconsistency with the assembly instructions (see my review of the Drinkwell Stainless 360 for more info). Also (and this is not necessarily a fault of the fountain), one of my cats took quite a while to get used to it, even though he'd been drinking out of a fountain for years.
After using it for a couple of weeks, I discovered a newer model: the Drinkwell all-Ceramic Pagoda fountain. After finding out that one of my co-workers would buy the 360 Stainless from me, I then got the Pagoda...it is MUCH better. Except for the pump and filter housing, it's all-ceramic, so there is no direct contact with plastic for the cats. It's MUCH better-looking, takes up less space, and offers three choices for the cats: drink out of the bowl (which my kitten does), drink out of one of two spouts, or drink from the top tier where the water bubbles up (which my older cat likes--he doesn't have to stoop to drink; he can drink sitting upright). Both cat & kitten took to it immediately. Also, the cleaning & reassembly is even EASIER with this model. Cleaning took less than 10 minutes. And the bonus point? It's really a beautiful fountain compared to the others, too.
HELPFUL HINT: If you want a comprehensive, one-stop site to research ALL the different brands & models of water fountains out there, I HIGHLY recommend [...] This site gives you the pluses & minuses of every fountain out there, and also includes short videos of cats drinking from each type of fountain! I wish I had found this site before I had purchased the Stainless 360 model, but I don't believe the Ceramic Pagoda was available yet anyway.
***Edited 4/25/14 to add: It will be one year next week that I've had the Pagoda fountain and my cats (and I) still love it. I use bottled water to fill it, so there's no hard water buildup. I clean it once a week, replacing the charcoal filter every 3 weeks and the foam "pre-filter" every 6 weeks. Cleaning takes 10 minutes. For those who don't like the sound of trickling water: if you keep the fountain full to within 1/4" of the top, you will barely hear it.
***Edited 4/10/16 to add: I've had the Pagoda fountain for nearly three years now, and it is still working perfectly and looks absolutely pristine. I stick to the same cleaning schedule mentioned above (weekly) and you would never guess that this fountain is anything other than brand-new. Both cats still love it, and this year I've included a video of my 14-year old, Tux, drinking from it. :)
THIS IS REGARDING THE CHARCOAL FILTERS AMAZON HAD ASSOCIATED AS, 'FREQUENTLY PURCHASED WITH', THIS FOUNTAIN!
These filters are 'NOT' manufactured by the same company that makes this fountain! After these filters had completely blocked the water flow from the pump, I just had to call the company to complain about these filters. That's when I was told that these filters were not made by the company that manufactured the fountain.
Ans my telephone call was 'not' the first this company had received about this situation. They are very well aware of these '3rd party' filters, and the problems associated with them! And they were 'not' very happy that these are so easily associated with their fountain on the amazon web site!
The way it is shown on the, 'fountain page', it looks as if these come from the same company that manufactures the fountain! The cleaning brush kit, (also shown as 'frequently purchased together'), 'IS' a Drinkwell product. So it is 'quite deceiving' that these filters appear as if they are also a Drinkwell product.
In fact, (after you purchase and receive these filters), is states right on the box, "This product is NOT manufactured or distributed by Radio Systems Corp, owner of the Petsafe and Drinkwell trademarks."
The box also states, "Premium Charcoal Filters for Petsafe Drinkwell Avalon & Pagoda Fountains." And has a name of 'Pet Standard' on the box.
When I was on the telephone, one of thefirst things they asked me was if this was a box of 12 filters. When I confirmed that it was, they automatically and immediately knew what the issue was, as their filters only come in boxes of '4'. They immediately knew that the problems I was experiencing was due to these '3rd party' filters!
Again, my telephone call was 'not' the first they received about these issues. These filters are 'JUNK'! And they should not be associated with this fountain! They will 'clog up' within a weeks time and totally cut off the water flow from the pump! I just hope my pump did not sustain any damage from the use of these filters!
