Given that, one of the first tasks I had to figure out is where my dog crashes when I'm gone. I placed the camera in different locations in the house (very easy to relocate - just plug it a handy electrical outlet). It took a few tries but I finally figured out that she spends most of the time in my bed. So, that's where it is so I can check on her while I'm away.
I am also a travel trailer owner and, in the past, I've worried about how she was doing when I'm out sightseeing or hiking. Campgrounds tolerate but don't like noisy, barking dogs! Now I'll be able to spy on her when I'm away from the camper. Of course, the campground will have to have WiFi for the camera to broadcast to my iPhone, but most of them do these days.
I don't use the two-way voice feature. I tried it and she freaked out trying to find me in the empty house. Other pets may react differently and this feature may benefit the owners, but my dog had a "connipition fit" trying to find me.
Equally, I don't use the laser pointer since I have it located in my bedroom. I'm not sure how she would react to that !
It was super easy to set up and the App walks you through the steps to do it. It's packaged beautifully and packed securely and safely for shipping and gift-giving. The color camera image is crisp and clear and the night-vision feature works wonderfullly. It also has a sensor you can activate (if you wish) that will alert you with a sound signal on your smart phone if there is a loud noise or exaggerated movement in the house (like knocking over a table lamp or the dog barking at intruders).
I've seen similar products priced lower and higher, but for the money this one has the most features and dependability. I wish it had an on/off switch so I could turn it off when not needed, but I just unplug it so it's not a big inconvenience. Oh - one thing ... if you sign up for others to be able to watch your pet in the Petcube Community, just remember that anyone can see what's going on in front of that camera - even YOU doing God knows what !!!
I know the price looks a little high, but this baby is worth every dollar in features and build quality. Oh - and they have super and fast customer service! I had to email for a little question and they responded within an hour.
I am a TOTALLY satisfied customer !!
The device got significantly smaller, lighter and has much slicker design. It now uses full potential of its camera: in addition to live HD video stream it also has motion and sound detection, night vision, and record capability to store videos triggered by motion. This turns Petcube Play from just a pet care device into a home surveillance camera. The videos are stored on remote servers and remain accessible even if Petcube Play goes offline.
Video and audio quality is amazing and it takes for the app just couple of seconds to connect. You do need to be talking close to your phone mic in order for the sound from Petcube be loud, but at the same time it does great noise reduction.
Petcube Play is one of the very few devices that utilizes the new USB-C charging connector, which is reversible so you don't have to do the annoying flipping multiple times to finally plug in the charger — it's pluggable either way. The power cord that comes with the device is 9 ft (2.74m) long which gives much flexibility in camera placement if there is no power outlet right next to it.
As previous model, Petcube Play has tripod mount, which allows to position it virtually anywhere and set the required tilt for the best view.
Unlike with previous model (especially on early firmwares), the setup of Petcube Play was very smooth: everything worked out of the box, the device quickly picked up WiFi network and configured itself — the whole setup process took me about 30 seconds.
The laser also behaves significantly better, but it's still not as smooth as I'd like it to be. It has good precision after calibration: if I tap on the screen the laser will point to the right spot. However what matters the most when playing with a pet is smooth movement, and not as much precision. Laser movement is often very abrupt, especially when I play via cellular connection (which I do most of the times when I'm away). These sudden and abrupt laser movements often left my puppy quite confused, but still may be okay for a cat.
However there is a new feature in Petcube Play which makes its laser much more usable — the "Auto Play Mode". In this mode you don't need to use Petcube app to activate the laser — it will activate automatically when the camera senses movement and will play with your pet automatically. Now because random laser movements are managed by the device itself and there is no network lagging involved, the moves are very precise and smooth and got my puppy into play several times. The best thing about the feature — you don't have to do anything, Petcube Play plays automatically. Just don't forget that you enabled "Auto Play", so you don't freak out when the laser activates by itself when you are home :)
Another use case for our Petcube Play is to give it to our dog sitters whenever we are away for a while. This gives both us and our friends who take care of the puppy great peace of mind.
My overall experience with Petcube Play has been very smooth — the device just works and is very simple to use.

- Continually had to reset the Petcube (during the day it would just stop working).
- Android/Iphone app is filled with useless things like some kind of social feed and other useless 'functionality'. I wouldn't mind too much if the actual camera functionality worked but it continually fails to connect, the app crashes, the UI is poor and confusing. It's like they decided to invest in other features rather than meeting the basic requirements.
- We ended up just buying a 'iSmartAlarm iSC3S Icamera Keep PRO ' , theapp is way better, night vision is better and quite frankly it works.
I've read good reviews of this so maybe I just got a dodgy unit, but for the price I expect this to work without having to deal with customer service.
Thought I would show friends Off-Line.
Went home flashing yellow light could not reset contacted the company via web site chat.
I have to send it back to the company.
Not A Happy Customer At All.
I wish the website would allow you to download the software to upgrade that is what it is trying to do.
While chatting with someone they wanted me to download the software so they could access my computer.
While we are chatting.
