** 3rd update. Holy cow has customer service tanked for this company since purchasing the original product!! At first, they were very willing to help, super friendly, very knowledgeable, but boy have things changed. I emailed them at the end of October regarding my Petcube Bites which had stopped working. It was making an awful electronic buzzing noise when it was trying to toss a treat, and had not been functioning properly. I was within the 1 year warranty, so I reached out via email. After no response, I emailed them again. Still, nothing. I emailed them a 3rd time, still hearing nothing back. Finally about 1.5 months after the initial attempt to contact, I received a response back. At this point, I was out of warranty, and I made them aware that we had been trying to reach out. Luckily, I had the proof, as I did not go through their website on each attempt to reach them, rather emailed them myself. They agreed to replace my product after 2 days of arguing back and forth about connection issues. I wasn't having a connection issue, it was connecting fine, the treat tosser wasn't working, but they didn't seem to "get it." Finally they gave me a tracking number and stated "once you drop it at the post office we will "Immediately send you a new one" in the mail and send you the tracking information." Here I am, 24 days after they finally responded, with no PetCube. I emailed them and they stated "we're out of the color you bought, so we're shipping you another color." Okay... so I get no choice? I asked them how long it would be, they didn't know, but agreed to send me the other color until the original color was in stock then swap it out. Still, I have no update on shipping, no update on when I'll receive my replacement, and every time I email them, I get the same story of "we're sending it now," but it never comes. I'm no longer recommending this company or product to family and friends, as I'm still shocked at the fact that they don't seem to have it together and the response time is unacceptable. I understand it's the holidays, but it wasn't back in October, and if they would've resolved the issue back then, I wouldn't be typing this. Be wary of your purchase. My PetCube lasted about a year before spazzing out, and the replacement process is a joke.**** Second update- we've had this product for just under a year now, and it has worked rather well now. I learned that the best treat to put in here that will toss consistently is the Nutro crunchy treats- they have Apple, Peanut Butter, and Berry flavored that the dogs go nuts for. They're actually a triangular shape, but nothing else throws consistently, so they're my go-to choice. The camera recently started making a weird buzzing noise when plugged in and not being used, so I'm hoping it's not going out, but we will monitor this and see what happens. I enjoy checking in on the girls throughout the day, but stick by my initial 4 star review- as for the cost of the unit- the minimum free cloud storage should be 24 hours. It's a racket- just like the Ring doorbell. Overall- if the price falls below $200, I'd say it's probably worth it. Any more and it's overpriced, just based on the fact that it's inconsistent, the treats jam often unless you find one that works, and the cloud storage that comes free with it is laughable.** update: after only 1 week, I'm forced to return this camera in exchange for one that will hopefully work properly. Every day, the camera would dispense treats the first, second, and maybe 3rd time, then it would suddenly quit. We realized the mechanism inside the pet cube was not spinning, so we called tech support again, and they're sending us a new one. If we have the same problem, I'm giving up and getting a refund. It seems like this is an ongoing issue for some people, and I'm no different apparently.**I really wanted to fall in love with this product, but it certainly has it's flaws which I'll go into detail about below. I've had the Petcube Bites for about 3 days now, and I have to say, it really is a brilliant concept for working pet owners. There are some things that I absolutely love, and others that drive me absolutely insane. I'll start with the pros.Pros:The camera quality is absolutely great! It's wonderful during the day, perfect at night. This surprised me, because I didn't expect the night vision camera to be of good quality, but it's actually awesome! I love that I can watch my pet and my house at the same time, it sort of doubles as a security camera in the front of the house. I get notifications when she barks, moves around, etc. and I love being able to check in on her while I'm away. There's also a feature that enables the camera to record all of those incidents, as well as any interactions between you and your dog, which saves to the cloud. I love that I can not only talk to her, but I can also hear her. I can tell the difference between a "hey there's the neighbor kid" bark, and a "I don't know this person" bark. It helps me to determine whether or not I should be alarmed from a security standpoint. I really enjoy throwing treats to my pup while I'm at work, it's great for her, she loves the interaction, but this feature is also my biggest complaint about the Petcube Bites, which I'll get into a little later. The device looks clean, and very modern, you can set it somewhere on a stand, or even hang it on your wall. That is what really drew me to the product over some of the others, was having the ability to do both, as I didn't know if my dog would knock it over or mess with it during the day. I really like that I can fill it form the top, but if I need to clean it out, I can remove the entire container. This is perfect for wiping it down when you change treats, and very convenient. Although I had a few issues connecting it to my wifi, I was most impressed with the customer support team, as they helped me get up and running on a Sunday afternoon. They were quick and professional, A+ for the support team.Cons:Now for the cons. First I'll start with the connectivity issues, as that's where my frustrations began. It was extremely hard to get setup, I tried it for an hour before finally calling tech support. If you have a WPN, Firewall, etc, you will not be able to hook this up to your network without disabling those features. Tech support was able to get me up and running, but it was an issue to start. The second issue, which for me is the biggest, is the fact that the treat thrower is extremely inconsistent. It says "if a treat gets jammed, you'll get a notification," but I never have a jam, and I never get a notification, it just doesn't dispense the treat down to the tray. This happens multiple times a day, and when I'm at home, I can easily go shake the container, but when I'm at work I can't. The entire reason I purchased the more expensive model was for the treats, so if it's not consistent, I feel like I wasted a lot of money on the feature. I have tried the sample Wellness treats it came with, some medium size Nutro treats, a larger Zukes treat, etc, and it seems like it doesn't matter what size or shape it is, it'll inevitably jam at some point throughout the day. My last complaint is simply the fact that I paid a hefty price for the camera, but you also have to pay for the pet care program if you want multiple days of storage, if not, you get 4 hours. With working, I might not see something I want to save in that 4 hour time period. Unfortunately, I know most products like the doorbells are going this route, but you should at least get 24 hours, 4 hours seems a little stingy.Overall opinions:This is a great product when it works. I really like it, my dog likes it, but it's not consistent. I'm debating whether or not I should return it and get a Furbo, or maybe even get the Petcube Play instead, but we'll see how it goes. It's disappointing that not all of the features work all the time, especially at the price point.
