Peugeot watches have been redefining fashion since 1957. At its inception, Peugeot was a manufacturer of luxury, handcrafted, gold timepieces. After a successful twenty five year run in the luxury category, rising gold prices and market changes dictated a new direction. Peugeot quietly reinvented itself into a well-designed, high-quality watch line at affordable prices. This strategy led to the formation of a new marketplace which later became known as fashion watches. The ability to translate high fashion trends into a watch line that appeals to customers with an eye on style and price has led to Peugeot’s recognition as a proven successful American brand found in better department stores nationwide.

When the package arrived, the box seemed rather large. When I opened the shipping box I was very pleased by the appearance of the packaging from Peugeot! The red "leather" clam shell-style box felt very well crafted and had a wonderful texture. The box opened to reveal the watch strapped snugly around a roughly wrist-shaped base piece and wedged securely in the package; a nice display. The clam shell box also contained warranty information, a thank you card, and instructions for setting the watch.
The watch itself arrived EXACTLY as pictured. A gold-tone case and bezel, perpetual calendar, lunar calendar, antique-style hands, with second hand, and a leather band with some texturing, identical to the photo. The watch band is not metal, gold, nor does it have a foldover clasp style buckle. The description chart seems misleading. The watch I received today is identical to the one in the photo. The quality of manufacture seems EXCELLENT. There's nothing else to say about the outward quality of the watch. It's beautiful.
It was extremely easy to set the perpetual calendar using the top and bottom crowns. The center crown, according to the instructions, will set the lunar phase on the first position and the time in the second position. The first position did nothing. I could see the small illustrated moon hitch a little when I turned the crown (while it was in the first position, as described in the instructions), but it didn't adjust the moon phase. I ended up moving the crown to the second position and turned through 15 days worth of 24-hour time periods to move the lunar phase from nearly full to nearly new. It took about 5 minutes. No big deal, but it would have saved my fingers the trouble if the first position of the center crown worked as described in the instructions. I could be having some user error here.
When setting the time, lunar phase, and perpetual calendar, there is some "play" in the adjustment. When rotating the crown one way or the other, it always pulls a little before catching up with the adjustment, if you know what I mean. It does not crisply move forward and backward. This is a very small concern for me; nothing that I would return the watch for.
The watch face is slightly smaller than a quarter and the crystal is FLAT, no dome whatsoever. The band is quite thin, a little over a centimeter at the widest part and tapers towards the buckle. It definitely has a very feminine appearance. The color and quality of the leather band is very nice.
I have fairly thin arms and small wrists and I have the watch fastened on the 3rd tightest hole. Three holes remain for adjustment. I generally prefer metal bands, but the leather band is attractive. There is a loop on the band to keep the excess, long end of the band tucked tight, but it is comically loose and almost non-functional. Right now the band is stiff enough that the excess length stays well-tucked against the under side, but this may change in time with the wear and softening of the leather. I may eventually have the watch put on a metal band.
In summary, it is a super cool-looking watch and I love the idea of the perpetual calendar and the charm of the lunar calendar. The quality is 9/10 and the appearance is 10/10. Great deal! Buy it!
EDIT: The watch still runs smoothly and keeps great time, but not long after I started wearing it, the closest loop on the band got two pretty major tears. This may just be an anomaly that comes naturally with leather, but I am fearful that the little loop will soon tear away and I will be left with the tail end of the band that wants to constantly flap around. I'm not rough with the watch and I work in an office; a pretty low-impact environment. The tears had to have appeared when I was putting on or taking off the watch, or perhaps if it got caught on a piece of clothing? Either way, the resiliency is not impressive in regard to this particular feature. As I said, though, the rest of the watch works fine. I will probably put a metal band on it later, since that is my preference, anyway.
It does take a bit of fiddling to understand the moon phases, but considering that you're getting GENUINE moon PHASE (not just day/time indicator) at this price, I just have to say - wow.
The strap quality isn't great, which is sad because I think they picked a good color and design that matches the face well. So, expect to replace the strap. Despite this small annoyance, highly recommended.
So, beautiful watch but only for an wrist ornament
This is cheap construction. The band split and peeled away in two weeks of normal wear.
The paperwork with the watch says that the mechanism is covered not the band. I wil be contacting the company anyway, but Buyer Beware!
