I order these bitters very frequently and this last order of 4 bottles tastes very different from my many previous orders. There is an unpleasant after taste for some reason. This is the first time this has happened.

I have tried several bitters and this is by far my favorite. I don't mix it with alcohol but enjoy it with seltzer with a twist of lemon. I find it refreshing with its hint of cherry and nutmeg. Recommend it highly.

I never run out of it *not that I need it often, but this brand if you use 1/3 to 2/3 parts water will cure your Nausea
in less than a minute. I've used it for decades! No better, faster cure! I keep it in the Fridge and lasts until it is gone!

It's THE classic for a Sazerac!

I got this for a very specific purpose... to make Sazeracs. Mandatory. So, since this is the original bitters for Sazeracs, how can I give it less than 5 stars? As for its general usefulness, not sure yet. Totally different flavor from Angostura, but that's not necessarily bad. I think I need to try it in some other cocktails, using it for the primary bitter. As with many bitters, it's not actually all that intensely bitter. Nice flavor. I use Angustura to cook with, people love the flavor it adds even though they don't know what it is. Maybe Peychauds will work for that, too. Have to give it a try..

If you are looking for bitters for an old fashioned, manhattan, or any other drink that simply says "bitters" in the recipe, this is probably not what you want. Peychauds bitters taste very different than angostura bitters, as they have a character that tastes more like anise, absinthe, or black licorice. If that is indeed what you are looking for, for a drink such a sazerac, then you are in the right place. This bottle is 10oz, which is the larger size, and will indeed make many sazeracs.

My nose isn't good enough to give a description of the notes

These bitters are classic New Orleans. You cannot make a proper Sazerac without them. My nose isn't good enough to give a description of the notes, but these blend well with brandy (spare your nice cognac, but it turns a cheap brandy into a great cocktail) and rye. I don't find that it pairs well with rum or gin, go with Angostura or orange bitters for those.

A "softer" taste than Angoustura

This is the classic bitters of the Sazarac, a traditional New Orleans drink. It is not as bitter and assertive a taste as Angostura. Rather, it's a bit sweet and a bit blander. I prefer Angostura for general use, but maybe that's because it's the taste I associate with "bitters."
