When building the system, the first things I noticed are the small details that Phanteks provides to make the computer build easier. The compartmented case holding screws and hardware is a good example, but if you look at some of the video reviews of this case on YouTube, you'll see just how well-engineered this case is for builders and users. Cable management is a snap, the glass doors are easily removed and reinstalled, the front panel snaps off to reveal the magnetically-held intake dust filter, and the list goes on. The one consideration is the PSU. This mounts in the covered 'basement' of the case and there is filtered fan exit underneath. The PSU I selected had the fan mounted on top, which is blocked by the case's basement shield. The PSU works fine turned up-side-down, but the OLED display on the PSU is no longer visible.
As you can see in the photos, the case is as well-engineered as it looks iin the photos. Cable management is easy. Phanteks provides three 140mm fans: two in the front, one in the rear. I added two additional 140mm fans in the top to ensure good airflow.
ASUS ROG Maximus XI Extreme motherboard
Intel I9-9900K CPU
Noctua PC-U12A CPU cooler
ASUS Thor 1200 PSU
ASUS RTX 2060 GPU (mounted vertically using Phanteks' optional case mount)
2 x 2TB NVME m.2 drives on motherboard slots
2 x 2TB NVME in two PCIe adapters (using the DIMM.2 slot on the motherboard would have reduced the channels supporting the GPU) configured into RAID 1
4 x 1 TB SSD in RAID 10
The airflow in the case, coupled with the Noctua CPU air cooler, is more than sufficient to overclock the I9 chip. I've sustained 5 GHz using the stress testing tools and the CPU temperatures never reached 70 degrees Centigrade. While I do not have time to game, this set-up is designed for video and photo processing and I can now render shorter video clips in Premiere Pro in less than 10 seconds where more than a minute was required with my previous system.
While I have replaced each of my Antec cases with each new build, I think I'll be reusing this case well into the future unless Phanteks (or someone else) designs something even better!
- Dual system
- Plenty of room for storage
- Plenty of room for fans
- Room for a Corsair H150i Pro
- Hardware is low quality (Support was great though)
I got the case and immediately opened it up. I was already impressed with the quality of packing material. The case was inside a cloth bag to keep from scratching the finish. All hardware was in a box on top with the manual tucked inside. The screws were in a plastic divider box as well.
My only complaint is the quality of screw hardware. You can tell they aren't quality due to the lack of centeredness when installing a screw, and one of the front case screw had no threads cut into it. However dealing with support was easy. just had to supply a picture of the affected screw and a copy of the purchase receipt, and the screws showed up two days later. A++ support!

I plan on installing the second ITX build in the top of the case once I figure out a good cooling scheme. I will update this review as I find out more about the case!
I originally selected this case for the aesthetics and practical design. In those areas, the case didn't disappoint. However, this is the first time I've received a case that has gone through such poor QA. To begin, my package arrived with the top already half torn open. Then upon opening, I find there is some damage to the components. The radiator rails are extremely flimsy by design for some reason, but mine was also bent near the bottom. The top uses thicker steel, but it would've been nice for them to use that for the front as well. The power supply bracket was also bent, though so uniformly bent that I almost thought it was intentional. That part was fairly easily bent back into shape, but it's not something I'd expect from a case costing $200. In contrast, my Corsair case arrived flawless. So in my personal experience, I've had better luck with QA with using multiple Corsair products than this one Phanteks product. I really wanted to give this 5 stars because it truly is incredibly well designed for cable management, but it's hard to overlook glaring QA issues that should not be happening at this price point.

The RGB buttons do not work, either at all, or as they should do when they do do something. I've had a nightmare getting this to do anything near what I want it to do. This annoying issue appears to be with the drivers and software for the RGB AIO and the motherboard RBG conflicting which also means the case RGB is going pear shaped too. Basically, there is no software to control all the RGB lights on all three parts. And when you load the software up for each, they conflict.
Finally, I have managed to get just a single colour on everything. It took ages!
The case USB C port doesn't function at all. It should do, everything is plugged in and updated, yet no life. All the other USB 3 ports are fine.
Finally, and a general point about cases really, it would be nice to be able to mount the motherboard to either the left or right hand side by being able to modify the case. I always tend to have my PC in a position whereby I'd like to access the right hand panel to adjust things on the motherboard or swap drives. So mount the MB to the left have side would be needed. Instead, like all motherboards in cases, it's mounted to the right side as you look at it, which means I need to move the pc to adjust things and I never get to see any of the RGB anyway!
It's a great case. Love the look, feel & quality. Only let down by crappy RBG software conflicts and a doggy usb c front port. I will try and get a new usb c port from my seller, but either way im happy and recommend this case.
Air circulation is sufficient. The case comes with 3 140mm fans (2 at the front and 1 at the back) which max out at 1200RPM and are all PWM controlled. There is a fan hub at the back of the case so you can minimise connections going to your motherboard but, I would suggest that you connect your AIO fans to the motherboard directly so that you have individual control of them separate from the case fans. The front cut outs for air intakes are larger in this revised model, same for the top of the case.
Although Phanteks provides built in vertical gpu PCI-E brackets in the case and part of the vertical mount kit (the bottom holder but, no PCI-E cable) I would suggest using a 3rd party solution like CableMod or Cooler Master. The built in solution locates your gpu very close to the tempered glass panel and starves your gpu of air if you are not going with a custom water cooling solution.
This is a great case for the price, gives a very premium feel, the amount of accessories you get with it is really good ( a full toolbox with ample additional screws, 6 HDD mounts). I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a case in the £200 range.
This case is great to build in, although I had an issue or two, my first one was one of the rear cable management panels hinge pins was very loose and kept sliding out, had to use some pliers to lock it back into place by crimping the metal in the pins socket, not a big deal.
I had to get cablemods vertical GPU mount as well as my graphics card is a triple slot card and had too much constricted airflow when wedged up against the side panel. This is obviously an aesthetic choice but I prefer vertical mounted GPUs. This case also does not come with the phanteks PCI-e 16x Riser cable or mounting equipment required for vertical mounting.
This case does NOT come with the SSD brackets for the back of the motherboards backplate, you have to buy them separately even tho this case does support lots of SSD mounting on the two cable management panels on the back I prefer to use the rear motherboard panel mounts instead.
Other than those few issues the case is great to build in, plenty of room for everything and the RGB lighting that comes built into the front of the case and the power supply shroud looks great with a nice pulsating effect.
All in all, a fantastic case that really looks the part and is a dream to build with.
Let me start with the good. I fitted three 140 intakes, one 140 exhaust and a 360 Enermax rad up top. My temps under stress are a full 14 degrees less and no throttling. I've vertically mounted my GPU ensuring good airflow and that maxes out at 55 degrees. So excellent thermals. The aesthetic of the case is good also, with my wife commenting how much better it looks that the old case.
Now the not so good. The rear shrouds for the cable management are a good idea, but the space is nowhere near enough if you mount 3.5 drives in the bottom of the case. Also, if you use the middle mounting option for the drive cage, it restricts the clearance for cables at the back of the PSU. The 3.5 drive cages also have lots of sharp edges (as do the motherboard cut outs) and my cables have been snagged and abraded by what I consider to be unfinished tin. The sliding cable covers are also an issue. Whilst a cleverish idea, practically, they're a nightmare if you have an e-ATX board. The front fan mount/rails and PSU bracket are also flimsy - feels more like a £50 case when you look at the quality of some of the internal panels/finishes.
So, after building many PCs my assessment is this. If you have a bare minimum rig, have no HDDs and have an ATX board, you may want to consider this as the airflow is excellent. If you have something more complex, a custom loop, some legacy HDDs, look elsewhere. This case will have you cursing no end. Whilst I like the aesthetic, I value engineering and ease of build more highly. Buyers remorse for me.
