Update. Changed this to one star. After back and forth emails and company admitting they had a problem then nothing. No actual attempt at customer service. Buy something else!
As a soon-to-be new dad, I didn't know pregnancy pillows were a thing. But they were strongly recommended in our classes. You can use normal pillows to prop up your belly, knees and legs, but having a full body pillow was recommended by multiple health-care professionals at those classes. It's just so much nicer. So, we decided to buy one.
It helped, a lot. It was much more comfortable for my wife than individual pillows, one under her belly, one in between her legs. That's a big plus.
It does take up a lot of space. In our King size bed, this isn't a big deal. In a queen, it's still not too bad, but anything less that that and this is a no-go, I'd say.
The zipper is a great idea, but it's in a place that it can stab into you. That could have been designed a bit better.
The product photos make it look like the pillow is very plush. It's not. It's 3-4 inches thick, uncompressed. My wife uses an extra pillow at her head because she likes thick pillows. The lack of extra thickness in the rest is probably a good thing, though - you don't want it too thick or it will be uncomfortable between your legs or supporting your belly. Just be aware that the picture isn't completely accurate.
When you're pregnant, especially when you're pretty far along, you'll want to sleep on your side. Actually, you might not want to, but it's the best position for a couple of reasons. Sleeping on your belly isn't unsafe, I'm told, but it's unlikely to be comfortable as the baby grows. Care providers will warn you, though - DO NOT SLEEP ON YOUR BACK starting sometime in mid-pregnancy. There's a chance that your baby will compress the vein that runs along the spine to return blood back to your heart. That's not healthy, or comfortable. You'll experience the joys of dizziness, elevated heart rate, shortness of breath. Having this pillow wrapped around you is probably the best way to prevent yourself from rolling over onto your back in the night and causing those problems.
The pillow is quite soft, and seems to be an ideal shape.
My biggest issue with this pillow is it's really hard to cuddle when my wife is using it. :) It sure makes her more comfy, though, so it's well worth the purchase. I'd actually give it a pretty good chance that she'll want to use it even after pregnancy.
Hope this review was helpful for you!
