The sound quality is at least as good as any wired headphones I've tried in this price range. They have a neutral quality, with warm but not overpowering bass, solid midrange and clear highs. I can definitely hear the difference between low, medium and high bitrate tracks, and on high bitrate tracks the clarity is so good I'm picking up details I never noticed before. If you push the volume all the way up through the receiver the little amp in the bluetooth receiver will fall apart, but the solution is as easy as maxing out the volume on the phone and pulling back on the receiver volume. (Crank both and there's more than enough volume to do ear damage.)
Fit is exceptionally good for off-the-shelf cups. I haven't had a problem wearing them for hours at a stretch. When it's not clipped the receiver hangs about a foot below my chin. It could have been a little shorter, but the length doesn't get in the way. Phiaton appears to have gone the extra mile in reinforcing the wires at the buds, where they join from the buds, and going into the receiver. Ironically, it's better than most wired headsets I've used
The receiver is 2"x1.5" and it's light enough to clip on the front of a shirt without pulling. The mic is in the receiver and it does a good job of picking up voice. The controls on the receiver for phone, volume, power and track are solid enough to avoid being set accidentally, at least so far. The one area that looks vulnerable is the cover for the USB port.
Battery life is...unknown. I've used it for several hours and it didn't die. Unfortunately there isn't a way to gauge battery life, but if you plug it in every night it won't be an issue.Read more ›
Excellent sound and long battery life. Ear pieces fit nicely and with the optional sizes, you should find a perfect fit. Pairing is a snap.
I use this with my iPad and cell phone at the same time. You can use with any Bluetooth devise as far as I know. While listening to music, movie or any application on my iPad, if the phone rings, it is easy to answer the call. The music fades out and after the call, the music returns for you. The simple rocker control for pause, track forward or backward and volume up and down gives you the most used controls right at your finder tips.
There is a durable clip on the back of the little egg shaped unit that allows you to clip on to your shirt or use the provided neck lanyard. The felt storage bag is a nice touch as well. The indicator light is subtle and understandable.
Overall, this is a real hit!
The sound is amazing. This is the best sound I've ever heard from ear buds. I have used headphones that didn't sound this good. My brother is a professional audiophile and he was impressed.
I haven't run the battery down, though I spend hours listening to books or music while working. I charge it up on my lunch break and it's good for the afternoon.
Cons: This is a small annoyance, but there's a slight delay in the audio when watching Netflix on my Galaxy Note. I'm not usually staring at the actors' lips anyway, so I don't let it bother me. The sound quality makes up for this drawback. The same issue exists for music videos (think Sarah Brightman, Leona Lewis, Shania Twain, Faith Hill), but I think the delay is less with videos for some reason. Of course this isn't an issue when listening to music or books.
There is little or no noise cancellation. The system works great on phone calls as long as you are quiet. Try doing the dishes while on the phone and your friend will protest the background noise and just might hang up on you.
I foolishly washed my face with this around my neck. Phiaton repaired it quickly with no problems and covered it under warranty.
5 stars easy.
Good sound quality and connectivity, didn't have any issues with them cutting out while listening. I wasn't able to get phone capability to work with my Nexus 4; the headphones kept ringing and flashing like I was receiving a call (I wasn't). Within the Android Bluetooth options I was able to disable phone audio and leave media audio on.
The pod is awkward. The cord length is too short to clip it on a pants pocket, and the clip itself doesn't grip well on smooth fabrics. I couldn't remember what orientation I had the pod clipped at and which direction to move the joystick in to perform the function I wanted. However, it is easier to use than buttons when wearing thick winter gloves.
For general use (not riding a bicycle), I would go with the LG Tone over these headphones. Although they don't sound as good, the neckband design is much more intuitive, and they're about $40 less at the time of this writing.
