You must enable the 144hz refresh rate. Out of the box it is clocked at 60hz. You can do this under your control panel's settings. Reference the other reviews on a step by step.
To enable G-Sync you will need to have the Nvidia Geforce Experience software (Free from Nvidia). You can enable G-Sync from the Nvidia Control Panel. Be sure to turn on V-Sync on your games as G-sync is enable via V-Sync option under graphic settings in your games.
I think the biggest thing with the TN panels is the 144Hz refresh rate...If you ever stop using the standard 60Hz which is still a huge debate that anything over 60 can't be seen..I can tell you 4-SURE there is a difference. The difference is across the board from video to regular web surfing..
I did do some adjustments with the Philips...nothing major, lower brightness I think... I would 4-SURE buy this again which I'm sure I will... The only drawback is it only having Displayport for a hook-up but I'm guessing this is something they would consider changing..On the other hand, If you are looking to buy a g-sync 144Hz monitor I would think you have a good video card..Many people are going with multiple monitors now so Philips should add HDMI and or DVI...
Setup: i5 4690k (o/c to 4.3ghz) GTX 970 SLI, Gigabyte Z97X-UD3, Corsair H105, 8GB GSkill Sniper DDR3 1866, Coolermaster 1000W Silent Pro Gold.
However the G-sync completely removes screen tearing, and keeps games from stuttering, and the 144hz in comparison provides a much smoother experience playing games. Though initially the 144hz isn't extremely noticeable, when playing fast moving FPS's and such, it does give a noticeable game play experience and overall smoothness factor.
Luckily, Amazon gave me a free exchange for a new one and that one has had no issue so far, but the possibility is still there.
