Top customer reviews
1. The connector is kind of flimsy and will not charge your phone if not connected *perfectly*. So make sure your phone is charging before walking away!
2. Sometimes it looses blutooth connection while playing music. This is highly annoying!
3. The Philips app is crap
4. After a while the thing crapped out on me. Initially the sound was fantastic, good bass, nice midrange. However, one day it just started sounding horrible right in the middle of playing some music(at a reasonable volume). It never recovered. Any music with any kind of low tones or bass would result in ear curdling static type sound. It was BAD.
Amazon support was amazing in this regard. One reason why I love shopping with amazon is their support. They helped me return this item very quickly and refunded my money.
One downside I have had which will be remedied with a new phone is the micro usb. It is made for the latest phones and mine is not so it doesn't fit, but I have usb cable that can charge my phone so no worries. With a new phone that I have ordered should fix this problem.
The other problem that could exist is if your usb is on the side of your phone and not in the middle. The platform has a difficult time holding up the phone and it may fall to one side disengaging it from the charging station. Overall I would recommend to a friend especially for the price.
It also comes with a weird plug that requires you to buy an adapter to be able to plug it into the wall. I guess it's the type of plug they use in England?
I was going to return it but my dad was able to get the adapter & he decided to keep it.
I'm using this device for an app named "White Noise" which provides a wide variety of sounds, such as waves, wind, rain, etc, to help with relaxation.
First of all, I did not install any of the vendor's provided software. I saw no need. I just mounted my Galaxy S4 on to the dock [it mounted without a problem], turned on the S4's Bluetooth [which paired in a few seconds] and started my White Noise app.
By turning the AS351's volume to full, the sound filled the bed room.
I had to turn it down a little so it would help, not interfere, with my sleep. I actually could have increased the volume by increasing the volume on the smartphone, but the AS351 provided more than enough volume in the master bedroom.
Under Product Information/Technical Details, it states that the unit comes with a remote control. This is false! Further down on Amazon's web site you will see that a remote is not list in "What's in the box", nor is it listed on the Philips Fidelio Model Comparison List. I did not expect a remote so this was not a problem for me.
So far I am very pleased with the purchase. It works well and was extremely easy to set up.
[Actually I didn't even bother to read the directions until later.]
One last point: The AS351 does a great job in charging my Galaxy S4. My battery is usually around 60% to 63% charged when I connect the phone to the unit when I go to bed. I leave the sound generator app running all night long and the phone is 100% charged when I disconnect it in the morning.
We have found that it works for a number of phones. It has no trouble connecting with Bluetooth and if one person if attached but walks outside of the range it will not pick up another person's connection... at least if you're in the house still. The extra charging cord spot in the back is awesome because the base seems to charge at warp speed, seriously. We've put one phone that's dead into a wall charger and one that's dead onto the base and without a doubt the base will charge fastest.
The buttons give you a satisfactory slight click when you push them so you're not left wondering. The sound is good too. It is not a Bose System but I didn't expect it to be. We can have music going through it in our bedroom's bathroom (which is where we keep it with no issues either) and can hear it downstairs and away from the stairs.
All in all, I am Very happy that I bought this. Not sure if anyone else has started producing Android speaker docks yet but if they have rest assured that this is hands down top of it's game... and this isn't even the luxury edition!
