Excellent color rendering. Color changeable from 2000K - 6500K. 1100lm is plenty bright. App is responsive through the hue bridge but Hubitat integration uses polling rather than events (that’s not on Philips).

My only complaint is the lack of a “follow the sun” feature. I want these lights to automatically change brightness and color temp throughout the day to reflect the sunlight outdoors.

This is a brand new model so I’m glad there aren’t any issues so far.

I wish they made these in a 6in but I was able to use my old 6in light and add the housing onto this and glue it together. All in all, very easy to use, very easy to install, and seems high quality. I just wish it was like 20% brighter.

The light is nice. However, I was hoping that it would seemlessly integrate with my existing Google Home / Smart Life set up. It does not, the bulb cannot be found even in discovery mode by google home. It appears that you MUST buy a hub for the device to work with Google Home. Otherwise, you are limited to blue tooth only mode, which isn't super useful. I'm not exactly sure what is inside of this bulb, but it seems that the hub requirement is a software limitation, not a hardware limitatiot as Bluetooth is probably not going to cut it in terms of sending a strong enough signal for a single hub to handle an entire home. That leads me to believe that these do in fact have 2.4ghz wifi chip in them, but are likely disabled in order to increase hub sales. At some point I will do a teardown of this light and find out for sure. I guess Bluetooth may work over a long distance as it is on the same band a 2.4ghz wifi, but, either way the fact is that Phillips could have made these lights fully integrate with no need for a hub but chose not to.

These lights and app work as intended. The color spectrum is great and app is easy to use. It integrates with Siri pretty well.

The biggest issue I have with these lights is the removal process. I had to remove the light from its housing and it was very difficult to remove. The light is really secured to the housing after initial installation. The manual says to remove by force. During the removal the process, the light housing became loose from the ceiling. I had to slowly rotate the light in all direction while pulling it downwards in order to wiggle the light out. The light housing was definitely dislodged when I was removing the light.

Packaged well. The 1s did not return. The other 2 were broken.
Not my 1st time buying and installing these lights. But 1st time sending any back lol
Install: You need to have already installed or are installing 5/6 - inch can lights. Install of the light is straight forward. screw in the part. ( power is off )
Now with the light the flat wings stay open for 6 inch. But I say to you you might have to adjust cause can lights are not exactly all made the same of to exact size.
So for me 5 inch and said to put wing in 1/2 way . well i had to open it more so the cut out slot was visible to fit my can light . Not to hard. Custom fit. Push up and in and twist just a little apposing the direction it the metal wings. . Should be snug. if not pull down open a little more. .
Mine worked fine and set up easily .
But if you have an issue detect with the hue app first. and name it Then with your smart device. make sure your blue tooth is on in your phone. when doing so.
I have the ability to either use Alexa or my hue app. Hint Don't shut it off in the hue app if primary using a voice control. You may get a device not responding. Go into the hue app and turn it on you voice will then respond.
Also make sure you leave the switch on Smart devices need switch in on position to function correctly..
Yes I have the hue hub. and it is easy to deal with. plug in and go.
One more thing in the hue app you can update bulbs and hub. I recommend you do it as soon as your able. especially if your voice control is buggy.
You need to leave the light or lights on while updating and it can take some time. But it helped me with a A 19 hue lamp light.
All in all I love the lights.
I can dim then and brighten as needed. Saving power even. The hue hub and app allow for more ranges of white and soft white.
I have the perfect setting for movie night
And in my kitchen when cutting veg. or measuring clear light so see the best. Or just 1 light on in the kitchen as a night light or drink run on movie night set low and soft.

I love all of my Hue lights, I swear by them, but the brackets used on these retrofit downlights are terrible. I couldn't get it to stay in place, it just popped out of the can, but even if it did stay in place i feel like you would almost have to break the fixture to get it out. I ended up going with a couple Hue BR30 lights and a nice trim ring that fits just around the bulb.

If you have a can that will perfectly fit the downlight its a great option and i'm sure works fantastic like all hue products. However, this is the only Hue product I've been disappointed with.

I have never seen a light with this type of hanger. It took a while to figure out that they can bend horizontally. That didn't help me anyway. Basically, this will either fit great or it wont fit at all. I cannot believe there are so few options for the install. It really is 1 size fits 1. Take a shot because they are cool but for real out of all the different ways to hang these lights, you better hope you are the 1 in 1000 that actually fits.

I've Hued out my entire home, and while I do love these lights now that they are installed, it makes absolutely no sense that they only sell them in a retrofitted design.

My house had thin LED recessed lights and I basically had to go on a wild goose chase looking for some old cans to install into my ceiling before being able to install these into the cans. I must have called and gone to 8-10 stores before finding a hole in the wall electronics shop that still had some in stock. And you really can't install these without cans, unless you really get extremely hacky with your installation.

I highly recommend you look into if you have cans or not to fit these before you consider them. Having moved to the house with all my other bulbs and accessories ready to go, I felt I didn't really have a choice but to install some old cans, but I really didn't think they were so hard to find since they are essentially "ancient tech". Odd that Hue hasn't put out a more modern version of these still very expensive lights.

Voy a comentar lo que me hubiera sido útil saber antes de "arriesgarse" sin estar seguro. Para comenzar ese es el diseño del foco, es diferente (por los sujetadores) al que aparece en la descripción y fotos de la página, en videos hay versiones con resortes y con "helices" en sus sujetadores estos son como "uñas". Vi que algunas personas tuvieron problemas para la instalación del foco y yo me mude recientemente y tenia spots con sujetadores de resorte y de "caja" estaban puestos tubos de PVC de 4", tuve problemas con algunos focos ya que no se sujetaban bien, afortunadamente con este diseño de sujetador no tuve problema, solo compre unos "sockets" pequeños para poder enroscar los hue. A la hora de embonarlos quedaron bastante ajustados, para retirarlos solo basta con girar y estirar un poco. Funcionan a la perfección con Google home y en cuanto a colores pues son similares a los que ofrecen los hue estándar. Los compre a precio standar 1300 aprox ya que he visto que nunca bajan. Los recomiendo solo si puedes permitirte el desembolso o para alguna zona particular de tu casa.

This light fits into my 6" old pots nicely, and the colour looks good. I use "Hue Dynamic" app for control, and it initially showed-up as a white-only dimmable bulb, rather than colour, but after using the official Hue app to change the colours, the Hue Dynamic app suddenly properly recognized it as colour.

My major complaint (and it is significant) is that this does not dim very well. I had been hoping to use this to replace some of the Philips dimmable LED pots, but even at its lowest 1% brightness setting, this new bulb is quite bright. Given the cost, I'm not sure if I'll proceed with the full replacement.
