Philips Hue is a great all-inclusive lighting platform that is super flexible and can transform your room into an interactive space with various types of lighting sources.

This kit gets you started into the Hue ecosystem, including the bridge (which is essential), and two easy to configure bulbs. Once you have everything connected, it makes you realize that you need more lights to really take advantage of all it can do.

Unfortunately, the packaging is a little misleading. The bridge cannot do wifi… you must hardwire the network connection. Not a huge deal, but if someone is expecting to put the bridge wherever they want, they will be pleasantly surprised.

The included lights are only 60w in output, which seems like it would be bright enough, but even at full brightness, it’s pretty dim. Would definitely only consider this as ambient/mood lighting and not as a useful reading light.

The colors and white light mix is nice. The Hue app lets you pick from a variety of colors and themes to set the mood or use it for productivity.

Was using some random cheap wifi smart lights and the reliability sucked. They would just randomly not follow commands.

Got these and set up the hub and everything works flawlessly now. They respond to commands fast and hook up with Alexa routines perfectly.

Even the colours just look a lot better.

Plus it auto discovers the lights, no messing around with wierd apps/turning the bulb on/off to pair it.

The lights themselves are awesome but I was very disappointed that the remote didn’t work due to a dead battery.

Update, put in a new battery and still doesn’t function probably. The led cycles through red orange green and will not connect. For a premium product and price am I very frustrated with the quality control. I tried all the various troubleshooting recommendations and it still won’t function properly.
