From the Manufacturer

Designed for the thrill seeker, the Philips O'Neill CRASH Headphones are the toughest headphone Philips has ever created. Not only can they withstand 1.5 tons of static force, they also deliver mind-blowing sound in high-def quality. If you’re the adventurous type who lives life to the extreme, these headphones are along for the ride. Metal chambers, reinforced connectors, tough fabric cable, and a TR90 flexible headband ensure durability and comfort whether you're enjoying tunes at the beach or rocking it along the ski slopes. The CRASH has acoustically tuned 40-millimeter neodymium drivers for precise clarity and deep bass to get you in the zone. And when you're not rocking out to music, use the Chill Mode to wear the headphones comfortably around your neck.

Chill Mode lets you spread earcans for comfortable wearing.

Headphones preferred by big-wave chaser Mark Mathews.

Chill Out Mode for Comfortable Wearing

When you aren't listening to music, you can relax the CRASH headphones around your neck using the Chill Mode. Simply slide the lever on the headband down to spread the earcans wider for comfortable wearing, so they don't sit under the chin area.

Noise-Isolating Cushions Provide Comfort

Soft, noise-isolating leather cushions enclose the speakers around your ears to create an effective seal. Designed to alleviate pressure on your ears, these cushions not only offer a comfortable fit for extended listening durations, but also help minimize sound leakage, letting you enjoy every detail of your music.

In-line Microphone and Controls

For convenience, the CRASH headphones come with an in-line microphone and remote, so you can easily switch between music and phone calls.

Acoustically Tuned Neodymium Drivers for High-Definition Sound

The CRASH headphones feature 40-millimeter neodymium drivers to create a rich and satisfying listening experience. Acoustically tuned for professional audio quality, these drivers boast a wide frequency response of 12 to 24,000 hertz to deliver crisp highs and deep lows, reproducing your favorite music in high-definition sound.

The tough-built cable, connectors, and headband withstand up to 100,000 bending cycles.

Durable Build Quality Withstands Impacts

Capable of withstanding 1.5 tons of static force, the CRASH headphones are designed to eliminate traditional vulnerabilities. The aluminum sound chamber, which is important for consistent sound, protects the speaker driver from external crashes and bumps to deliver the best sound. Additionally, the hefty fabric cable, reinforced connectors, and flexible headband have been tested to withstand up to 100,000 bending cycles.

  • Tough, durable construction features metal chamber to protect driver
  • Chill Mode for comfortable style around the neck
  • Soft, noise-isolating leather cushions for maximum comfort
  • 40-millimeter neodymium drivers for high-definition sound
  • In-line remote for music and calls

Great headphones but they broke after only having them for 6months. One of the headphones snapped in half from the headband while putting them on. I have a small head so I've never needed to expand the headband to put them on, so them breaking this easily was very dissapointing. Especially after I contacted Philips and denied helping me with any warranty because bought froM amazon. Amazon then also denied helping, the dealer from amazon that I purchased from also denied replacement. Virtually indestructible should not be advertised when they broke just putting them on.

I was nervous about this product because of lack of reviews and possible bogus reviews that were present. But this was all put aside when i plugged them into my computer and they sounded amazing. I feel i am a slight audiofile. I wasnt impressed when they were plugged into my iphone but that could be for many reasons. These are also very comfortable around the neck and head. If you put them in " comfort mode" they lay nicely around the neck but if you don't they double as a comfy neck supporter lol. These head phones are rather large but oh well. I did pass these around testing them out on a few friends who have beats who say that these are as good if not better then the beats.

I prefer to spend money on reliable, hard-to-break, good-quality things. These headphones seemed to fit the criteria. As usual, with anything you intend to wear, it is a good idea to try it on first. This purchase was an impulse as I did not bother to find a store to check them out.
With headphones on, from the front, you look like a weird alien; google cheburashka. That's about the look you'll have.
I did not consider it too much, but wife immediately pointed out that fact. It would still be OK to wear at home... if not for another minor problem, my head hurts after wearing the headphones for more than 20 minutes.
Other than those two problems, the rest is OK. I like the short, detachable, spring cord. The in-cord, iDevice controls are extremely useful.

I'm a bit of a headphone snob, but I had to try these for the price. They're pretty damn good! They're a little bassy for me, but for anyone who listens to hip hop or other bass heavy music, and likes an emphasis on the low-end of the spectrum, these are some nice cans!

I tried replacing the cable as suggested by other reviewers, and I can hear a modest difference. It's not a deal breaker to me since an upgraded cable can be purchased for about $6.

Three of my coworkers have purchased these since listening to mine. They were looking at Beats (something I would never personally consider), and purchased these instead. From what they've told me, the sound quality is better than Beats costing twice this much.

For me, they're just a fun headphone to listen to when I'm kicking back. EXCELLENT for movies on my tablets!

I purchased a set of these headphones in November for one of our guys at a Group Home. The claim is that these headphones are indestructible. However, this one just got broken from a simple drop on the floor tiles.
Probably our guy at the group home should be one of Philips headphone testers to prove they are really indestructible.

Got this on a gold box deal, really wanted the X1 version, but I thought I would give these a try out. First impression was solid construction but had problems with fit, way too tight for my large head, and had some sound issues at higher frequencies. Sometimes I would get a sound that was just too harsh for my ears ... not all the time but enough times to take notice.

i love my oneill construct and stretch headphones. these however, are the most uncomfortable oneill headphones ever. it might be because of their supposed indestructible build, but they are super tight. my hat size is 7-5/8, if yours is smaller then they may work for you. sound quality is good, similar to oneill's other offerings. if anything, sound quality is similar to the beyerdynamic custom one pros.

ALMOST indestructible! Be aware that despite they assure you the connector is also very tough, it is all the opposite. But if you very kindly ask customer service for a replacement, they sure will do that for you. Just ship back the old ones and you will be happy again!
