I've bought 2 other brand universal remotes prior to this one that I had to send back. Pics & description on those 2 said "Auto Sleep Timer" and showed a "Sleep" button---but when I did receive them, both did not even mention the sleep function or have the button per the pic!

This one (the Phillips) did meet my needs to turn off my Bedroom TV so that I could drift off to sleep, and allowing for either the TV sleep function if built in, or a universal timed power off when pointed toward the TV for 1-99 mins.

Jan 13, 2016 Just bought a 2nd one after about 3 yrs to use in motel/hotels for when I travel---didnt work so sent back.

The "Input" & "Menu" functions worked just as my OEM, and so was a full replacement for the TV. Havnt used for other devices since dont need (use an RF Sat remote for DTV Recvr/DVR located in my living room). Finally found a remote tht met the pic and item descriptions....Philips has been & still is a class co.

My original remote stopped working, so I got this real quick and it works fine. It's pretty basic but it works for my TV, VCR & DVR. It was simple to set up & now I don't need to juggle 3 remotes. There are a few things that it's missing but it's good for turning on & off, channel switching, volume control, rewind, fast forward & record. There is no timer button to set to record while away. When going into the menu, it doesn't work so well. So for those things I have to pull out the other remotes. I have to buy another original remote for my TV but this is working for me while I wait & it didn't cost much. I have a philips TV & reviews for other brands said it didn't work for philips, that's why I chose this brand & it worked on my TV without even setting it up. I set up the TV & VCR really easy. I wish I had this a long time ago.

I use this with my VIZIO TV. Its discontinued now which makes me sad so I bought a couple more. best thing about this is the button placement. Info is right above channel, and well - I like to push it A LOT! ok button is perfectly placed as well. It also pairs up my TV input select on the pause and forward button so I can flip back and forth between HDMI and Antenna quickly. I tried a couple others but its all about button placement - they drive me crazy. Goodbye awesome Philips remote. I hope your designer creates another.

I bought this for an old Mitsubishi TV (the original remote's buttons are wearing out) and a cheap Phillips DVD player. It works fine, takes a few minutes to set up. The buttons are a nice size- EXCEPT for the (most important?) + and - channel and volume. They are too small, but tolerable. The dimensions listed are for the package, the actual remote is about 6 in long by 2.5-3 inches.

If you need a basic replacement remote that doesn't require a Masters Degree in Electronics to set up, this is a good choice.

Setup is relatively easy using the enclosed code sheet. One plus is that this remote has the "sleep" button to turn the TV off if you're watching in bed - a feature that's missing from many other replacement remotes in this price range.

The button layout is well designed, and they're large enough you don't need your glasses to figure out what to press.

After my previous remote took an unexpected and brief tour of duty as a dog toy, I needed a new remote for my Philips HDTV. I hate buying universal remotes -- programming them is a pain, and I've never found one that I liked as well as the original.

Until now! Of course, this is a Philips remote, so if anything is going to play nicely with a Philips TV this should be it. And so it proved. I sat down in front of my TV with the new remote and the instruction sheet and prepared to spend a good 20 minutes punching in different activation codes until I found one that worked with my TV ... and the very first one worked. Just like that. Luck of the draw, I know ... but that has never happened before! So I had a nice big smile on my face.

And now that it's all set up, my new remote is the most intuitive and easiest to use in the dark of any universal remote I've had. Only my TiVo remote equals its "feel-ability" for identifying the important buttons without looking. The buttons are big, yes, but more important they're all laid out in a hand-friendly fashion, so I can easily find the play and pause buttons when needed, as well as the channel and volume buttons. I love my new remote.

And needless to say, I keep it well out of the potential dog toy zone.

Got this within a few days ago. I don't know if I would really describe this as a "big button" remote. If all the buttons were as large as the channel number buttons then I would agree but many buttons are not. As far as coding in your devices, here is what my experience was: coding in my 1985 19" b/w tv took under a minute. Where it began to take longer was finding the code to my Sansui VCR that, probably, was not as old as the tv. None of the codes listed worked for the VCR, so I tried the code search. After going through the code search process three times (pressing the channel + button 300 times) no code was found. I then went through the brand search and that finally worked but all in all, finding the VCR code took approximately 45 minutes. I am satisfied that the remote is doing what I purchased it to do but the buttons, other than the channel buttons, need to be larger.
